How anyone could ever do something to a five-year-old girl is just so far beyond my comprehension that when I hear anyone talk about something like that I have a hard time reconciling any of it no matter what the circumstances are/were. My wife and I REALLY wanted kids but unfortunately for both of us it's medically impossible. We've tried to get approval for adoption but we don't make enough money and we don't own our own home, so they won't even consider us. We would absolutely treasure any child we were lucky enough to get approval to adopt. Not only did we make it clear that we would be happy to take a special needs child in, but we actually wanted an older brother and sister or something similar, who have been through the system for a long time. We wanted to give them the home we know they deserve. Harming young people makes me sick to my stomach, and makes my heart ache for those affected by the disgusting selfishness of some random piece of poop.

Agreed. I want to foster kids so badly but because I am a single woman it's virtually impossible. It sucks that so many people who would genuinely love these kids get rejected for stupid reasons, and yet there's so many stories of foster/adopted parents who do terrible things to the children in their care. It just makes no sense to me, and I wish the system had a huge overhaul to fix these glaring problems.

Consider foster care adoption. I’m not sure about your state/location but my state (Minnesota, USA) they don’t deny based on home ownership or relationship status or orientation.

They want to give the children the most optimal lifestyles, if you cannot financially sustain yourself, adding children into the mix can cause emotional strain, and considering you will need to give them as much attention as possible to make sure they adjust to their new environment, that would be incredibly difficult when you also have to earn as much as possible to keep them fed, clothed and sheltered. Yes, these children are probably in less than optimal environments already, but most would agree its irresponsible to pine children off to households that probably can't look after them. Opening the flood gates and giving kids to everyone who feels they want a child is not a good thing. Some of these kids were born to parents who thought they really wanted kids, just to find out they made a mistake and can't/don't want to look after them. Think about what kind of damage it will do to the kids if they were adopted by families who thought they wanted kids, but then realised it was too much for them to handle and then gave them back. It's a very complex issue, and there are a lot of moving parts.

It's totally reasonable that I couldn't get my nephew because I'm a single woman in a rented apartment, whereas the couple who got him is perfect, despite their criminal history and the allegations of abuse they're currently undergoing. Nope, you're right. They're the most optimum choice, apparently. And my mom and her siblings were totally placed in a great home, because it was a straight couple with jobs. Forget about them forcing the kids to all work like slaves in their farm. They were the optimum choice, surely. A kind single parent would have just been too unstable. Nope, definitely worse than an abusive couple with a big income. What more wisdom do you have for me?

You seem to think that so many kids in care would be in amazing situations if they were given to more single parents who can't afford to sustain themselves. As if single parent households are on average better than two parent homes (news flash, they aren't. Produce a LOT more criminals). Anyway, continue stewing in hatred, if you had a well paying job and could show you could sustain yourself as well as a child, maybe you could have gotten your nephew.

I went to high school with Sandy and the community has not ever recovered from such a tragedy. Her body was in such rough condition that her family had to keep the funeral and viewing short. She was a beautiful and sweet person and I miss her.

It confuses me how some of these people only committed single (known) murders and made it onto this list. But like.. a lot of other people who've done way worse and haven't been caught don't make it onto the list.

That's because those people didn't fit the guidelines for federal prosecution. Usually it takes crimes being commited across multiple states, fleeing the country, I believe kidnapping and some other types of crazy crimes.

Benefits of living in the rural backwoods in a small town: you know everyone and they know you. Nosey neighbors are just something you’ll have to get used to, but they’re not watching you to be creepy … they’re watching to make sure all is well in the neighborhood, because when something is strange? They’ll know and they’ll tell you. Got a dog that has gotten loose? They’ll know - they’ll even call and tell you before you even notice it’s gone. Bears? Coyotes? Panther? Bobcats? Someone will see it, and they’ll warn others about it to be on the lookout. Strange vehicle driving by slowly at night? Ring ring, “have you seen such and such vehicle around? They’ve got out of state license plates.l and driving by real slow around so and so’s house. Any idea who that is? You keep an eye out.” Someone has something that turns up missing? You’ll know about it because they’ll tell everyone to keep a watch on their stuff (becoming rarer now that everyone here has cameras but they aren’t shy to put people on blast all over the local Facebook community groups lol) A wreck happens 3 miles up the road or something is on fire? You’re going to know who it is and what happened before police or firemen even arrive. Someone strange walking the road? You will absolutely hear about it and they’ll tell you exactly what they’re wearing and what they look like. Hear a bunch of dogs in the neighborhood barking? Better see what it is (or who it is) considering it’s normally quiet and isn’t normal. Someone new moves in to the area? They know before they’re even moving furniture in, and if they don’t, they sure as hell will find out. When I moved to the area about 12 years ago (coming from another small town that was “bigger”), people already knew before I could even introduce myself. Went to the local mom and pop’s gas station and was asked how I was faring. They’ll even outright ask you: “why’d you move to an area like this?” and if you say family, they’ll ask who. Only a moron runs to remote rural areas thinking they can blend right in and hide out. If anything, they stick out like a sore thumb and draw attention even more. Even if they think they can hide out in the woods - places where locals know like the backs of their hands and often go out in for hunting or just to explore. They know when something is amiss. However, the community here I am in now is among the best I’ve ever been in. I had to “earn my keep” and build trust with everyone, so to speak - if you know, you know how it is. Wouldn’t trade the relationships I’ve built with these people for anything. Most of them are elderly, but they’re sharp as a tack and have good families. Folks that I appreciate more and more the older I get with the help and care they try to give others in the community who just want to keep the areas safe.

You might be on the lookout but the general public isn't. Also, your showing signs of survivorship bias. The only reason you think it doesn't work is because you only know of the stories of people being captured. What about all the ones who are living right under your nose in the same condition? The truth of the matter is no one really looks at the FBI Top 10 List and remembers it. They briefly check there for any faces and immediately forget 80% of them afterwards

Robert Fisher being off of the FBI list is disappointing. There have been so many sightings of him in towns near Payson. The fact he is tactical, murdered his family and blew the house up he should still be on the list. I hope one day the kids and their mother get the justice so owed to them.

In the US, at least it used to be but not sure if it still is, they have those pictures on the wall in the Post Offices, where your queued up so you could look at them while waiting. My daughter was maybe 10 when she studied these pics as we waited. Suddenly she yelled loudly, look Mom, it’s Uncle Rick!! Of course everyone looked at us! Uncle Rick was not an uncle in our fam, but one of our family’s friends uncles. And it wasn’t him. Tho he did resemble him. This was a small town. We continued to get odd looks for awhile after that!!
