Ayrton called Angelo Parilla the friday before his death asking Angelo if he was interested in starting a karting company together he wanted to leave F1 but succumed to the pressure of his contract commitment he was unhappy with the car and asked for his steering adjusted which they proceeded to weld an extension to his steering column. The weld failed at 190 mph and also took out his brake module leaving him with no way out. When his car hit the wall the brokem steering shaft pierced his helmet and brain he died instantly.

Unbelievable is how you portrait Senna and Prost... Unbelievable... Not a word about the behavior of Mr Prost at Grand Prix of Japan in Suzuka in 1989, were he behaved like a jealous, spoiled child, running to his daddy Jean Marie Balestre to complain. You didn't mention a word about it. It is easy to find a video of this race. Commentators were already saying that they were surprised by the decision to disqualify Senna, inappropriate to the situation. Not a word about the McLaren team standing behind Senna and appealing the decision, showing footage of how in previous years other drivers were not punished with disqualification for the same thing that Senna was punished for. Not a word about Ferrari resigning from cooperation with Prost, because of his complaints about the car and the team to journalists. How can you look at yourself. And what a trash talk about Senna's ego. The Grand Prix of Japan in 1989 show who has the biggest ego. Read and find out how it really was before you say anything. And if you did it consciously, well then bravo

They way the producers characterize the Senna Prost rivalry is very slanted to Prost. Perhaps that’s what they had to do in order for him to participate. They go in depth on their second clash in Suzuka and but don’t talk about how Prost ruined the race the first time. Se la ve, still a great video and I enjoyed.

I met Nico's mother on his last ever race in Abu Dhabi. I did not know who that lady was as she was asking me for some direction and she asked me who am i cheering for in the race and i said Nico, of course. And she smiled and told me that shes Nico's mother. Later i googled Nico's mother and she was not lying.

You might say so about 1988-89. But the Senna of 1991-1994 reached a level that Prost, or any other driver is history, has never reached. When Prost and Senna were teammates, Prost was already at his prime. Senna would reach his prime only in 1991 onwards. If Prost had accepted Senna as teammate at Williams in 1993, Senna would have blown him away.

I agree with a lot of what you say. A few years ago I read an article by a journalist who wrote a computer pgm that assessed which of the two drivers would be more valuable to a team boss whose sole goal is to win drivers and constructors championships. Unsurprisingly it was Prost. One aspect was the average points scored per race (counting those discarded for that dumb "best of seven rule). Prost was 4.03, Senna was 3.79. The perception of Prost as "a points gathering accountant" and his lack of popularity in France is telling, as is his nickname Le Nain (ugly Dwarf). This stands in stark contrast to Senna, the passionate prodigy. But these stats would be different had Senna not been killed. Your point about their respective peaks is a good one. Prost was just past his when he retied whilst Senna was just coming into his when he died. Once the rivalry was ended by Alan's retirement the two became good friends. No matter what, theirs was the greatest rivalry the sport has ever seen. They pushed each other the heights they were unlikely to have reached without the other. Despite the fact that the Phoenix GP was a horrid track devoid of sightlines or character (an OSTERICH race in nearby Scottsdale handily outdrew the GP(!) I feel privileged to have seen the to race twice. And to hear those mighty (and FEEL, the V12s seemed to scramble your internal organs) aspro 3.5 litre motors screaming close to 20K. Prost was in the Ferrari and failed to podium once, DNF'd the other time. Senna won with ease both times.

In an interview in later life he said he had no friends. Well that figures. Hunt finished his life in a relationship with an Artist. What did Lauda do. Formed a stupid airline that failed. Stop criticising Hunt, F1 Nazis! By the way. It was defamatory to say that in 1976, Hunt drove unsafely. Where did they get that from? The name 'Hunt the Shunt' was coined in his early career. By 1976, it was no longer applicable. The narrative is a Mein Kampf-like fairytale.

Tbh Nikki Laudas Ferrari company should have been banned for allowing him to compete again so shortly after he had his surgery. This wasn’t bravery . It was suicidal. And his company was criminally irresponsible to let him compete . There’s nothing to celebrate in this.
