I've read about this scene: Mila Jovovich (Leeloo) had to learn this Divine Language which was created by the autor of the script who else is the director of the movie. Bruce Willis hadn't heard Mila speaking the language until they started recording the scene, so his reaction is totally genuine. The same happened when Divine sings to the audience. No one had seen her before they started recording the scene. I think this helps to creat a realist athmosphere.

Same thing sorta happened with the pirate ship and Goonies.. the kids never saw it.. So the take was suppose to be genuine.. Unfortunately, Josh Brolin was so blown away by the pirate ship he dropped the F-bomb when filming which ruined the entire take.

"Bada" means "big" in my language also. Btw, Mila Jovovich wonderfully portrayed the innocence of the character in the film. The girl is innocent, yet unknown to her, she is divine and pure, and powerful enough to destroy the world if she wants to.

As long as you are not deaf, the sounds that you hear can help you to build up a mental image of what is happening around you. We can only see things in a relatively narrow field of vision, but we can hear things behind us, above us, below us, and so on. Being able to hear where other cars are and what they are doing would help you to mentally map your immediate vicinity and thus enable you to drive more safely.

It's funny how in these movies they show everything futuristic and advanced but yet the designs are from their time and era. It's like showing an intergalactic spaceship with CRT monitors 😂 Basically there is always a mismatch between various things that they try to potrait. In future, say in 4000 CE when humans would try to travel to some other galaxy they won't be using lcd screens on their spaceship. It would be something else.

I used to go with Dean and Desh to critique the ASU design studios. One had this kind of backdrop, and I commented that it reminded me of Blade Runner. He pulled out what looked like a dusty old library book and showed me a similar motif. It is a classic in both art and planning, as a thought experiment. How do you process it? We do sets of everyday triangulations based on landmarks just to find the bathroom in a new hotel or office building, They are placed strategically so you have the likely first and seonc place to look. It's standard. Our brain relies on these patterns at a subconcious level, I think.

It offends me that the Razzies nominated Milla Jovovich for this performance. This woman not only learnt to fluently speak a language that director made up, but she spoke it so quickly making it sound like she has spoken it for years and is able to convey to audience with her tone and body language what she's talking about. That's a lot of hard work and talent right there and I haven't gone through her comedic timings and dramatic moments.
