As-salamu alaykum, just a polite little note/correction, most likely overlooked. 15:30 the image depicted on the slide is of The Great Masjid of Djenne which is located in a small town called Djenne not Tymbuktu. Sankore Masjid is in Tymbuktu. The distance between Tymbuktu and Djenne is 350 km. Sankore Masjid along with Djinguereber Masjid and Sidi Yahya Masjid forms part of one of the first universities in the world. Mash-Allaah very good historical insights. 🌷

Asa! I am so happy to learn all this important knowledge of Mansa Musa, I will share this video to my family to educate our beautiful African American children in our family to give them knowledge of the piety, generosity, the beautiful history of Musa and history of Islam in West Africa. Allah is merciful, and the solution for humanity. Blessings to the global family. ☪️

I wish at least the Muslim countries add this to their history books It’s a shame most Muslim children will never hear about him their entire lives and are kept unaware of their great past Love the comparison to current day billionaires whose wealth and influence seem trivial compared to Mansa Musa

I made Umrah in 2007 during Ramadan. Fyi I was floating for at least 2 years! Anyway, I stayed with an African American family that lives in Medina for 21days..While praying one night at Masjib Nabi I noticed a few handsome 12-16 year olds passing out water and dates. I asked my teacher about them. He said those are the great great great great grandchildren of Mansa Musa. He said when Mansa Musa came for Hajj a large percentage of his people decided to stay behind to live in Medina! He told me they have never left! I was floored and I wanted to cry when I realized the level of iman and love of our Nabi that they must have had to travel on foot from Mali, thru the desert, across the sea, thru more desert than on to the two Holy Cities!

Mashallah, another enlightening lecture. Jazak Allah Khair. I was completely unaware of the rich Islamic intellectual tradition coming from West Africa. I hope to see more of brother Bilal Ware in the CMC lineup. Perhaps an On Demand Course in the future...

Masha Allah! Jazakala hu khairan! Dr.Bilal ,team CMC and our Shaykh Abdul.Hakeem Murad I feel this is exactly what our Ummah needs. To tell 'our' stories, in our voices. I hope this is a first step of many to come, and may Allah make us (those who listened) , vehicles that can carry and forward this knowledge of our civilization(s), so we may enlighten our children and enrich ourselves. Bi iznillah, soon, Mansa Musa would be a hero for children from Kashmir to Norway -from east to the west!
