Dicky Ecklund (CHRISTIAN BALE) is a former boxing legend that squandered his talents and threw away his shot at greatness.

The Fighter is the inspirational, true story of these two brothers who, against all the odds,
come together to train for a historic title bout that will unite their fractured family, redeem

unfolds on the gritty, blue-collar streets of Lowell, Mass, where Dicky was once known as

However, after losing that fight, like the town of Lowell, Dicky's fallen on hard times. His
boxing days are behind him and his life has become shattered by drug abuse.
Younger brother Micky, meanwhile, has become the family's fighter and fading hope for a
champion. But despite all of his work, Micky's career is failing and he loses fight after
punishing fight. Dicky and Micky's tougher-than-nails mother, Alice (MELISSA LEO),
manages his career and Dicky serves as his highly unreliable trainer. When Micky's latest
fight nearly kills him, it looks like it could all be over -- until his iron-willed new girlfriend,
Charlene (AMY ADAMS), convinces him to do the unthinkable: split with his family, pursue
his own interests and train without his increasingly volatile and criminal brother.
Now Micky has the chance of a lifetime as he earns a shot at the World Championship.
But when his brother and dysfunctional family reenter his life, they must all reconcile their
pasts and become more than just a family in name. With Micky and Dicky reunited, this

Rocky is the best Boxing 🥊 Film Franchise ever! Though it’s fictional it is loosely based on the Real Rocky, Rocco Francis Marchegiano aka Rocky Marciano.. also from Massachusetts, Brockton to be exact. The only Heavy Weight Champion to end his career Undefeated with a record of 49 Wins in 49 Bouts with I’m pretty sure 43 Knockouts?! I grew up with a plaque of his in our home. Being from Boston, Mass & being of Italian decent most of our fathers or grandfathers had some memorabilia of Rock’s! I think the fact that Micky really is such a sweet ♥️ much like Stallone’s character of Rocky was and coming from a rough neighborhood & upbringing also like Rocky’s character did! It was easy for people to like the movie more! The fact that it’s based off of a real person & his family makes it that much more relatable to the masses too! I don’t care where you’re from, I think everyone can identify with something from the film?! Particularly New Englanders.. ❤️🤍💙 💛🖤 💚🤍 ❤️🤍

The only link to Rocky Marciano was the name Rocky

Dude Mark Wahlberg before it's to late should do The Fighter 2. Make it about the entire Ward Gatti trilogy. The entire movie is a out the trilogy. The ending should be Micky walking out Arturo his next fight after the trilogy. Be a smash hit. Question is? How do you cram that into 2 hrs? You could if highly focused on the fights. Be such a different spin on a boxing movie.

What a messed up family this was, good movie not as good as southpaw but it was a good movie and it's a true story, that documentary of Dickie really made him change his life around it's crazy because he was a dope fiend but he still will knock you out.. My favorite part of the movie is when he said "I went 10 rounds with sugar Ray Leonard what have you done" It really didn't matter if sugar Ray Leonard slipped he went 10 rounds with the champ!!! I'll give this a 6 1/2 out of a 10 .. I just love the plot man, I love how dicky tried to escape by jumping out the back window from his peoples, This movie is sad and funny at the same time.
