You are most welcome! :) I grew up with Godspell, so I know the feeling lol can't find any additional footage aside from this - so glad youtube allowed this to be posted so other fans can enjoy it as well. ^^

Wonderful! It's as reverent today as it was back in the 1970s. Such a great film. I hope that others appreciate the message.

Thanks for posting this. Love these "making of" documentaries. Would love it if Columbia might have a look in their archives to see if they have any additional footage from this.....maybe some actors interviews or talking about how they made the soundtrack, or talking about the sound department and how they seemed to have replaced all of the dialog.

How do you mean they replaced all of the dialogue?
@davewestner9 ай бұрын
@@thebrutusmars There's something called ADR, which stands for Automatic Dialog Replacement. It happens if the audio isn't good enough from the set when they are filming, they'll have the actors go into a studio and redo the dialog to make it sound better.

@@davewestner the movie doesn’t seem ADR’d to me. Is it?
@davewestner9 ай бұрын
@@thebrutusmars Aside from seeing the whole thing many many years ago, recently I've only seen however many clips of the film are available on YT, and yes, much of them look and sound it to me. For one thing, the lack of traffic noise in the conversations in much of the film is kind of a giveaway. And generally speaking, a decent amount of dialog gets ADR in most films, so odds are there is at least some.

Thank you! This is my favorite musical. I'm glad part of All For the Best was included...my favorite song from this movie. It's bittersweet though; at the end of the song they are dancing on the roof of one of The World Trader Center towers...under construction at the time.

I want to thank you for these three parts of the making of the film. This is one of my favorite movies. I saw this early on when I was a kid and I still have fun memories of it.

I saw a high school performance of Godspell in 1975, when I was 11. Since then, I've seen the movie a half-dozen times and performed in the stage version once in high school and once in college. Then, I finally had the opportunity to see it on Broadway when Hunter Parrish starred as Jesus. This show endures.

In 1979, I saw "Sweeney Todd" at Broadway's Uris Theatre THREE times, and each time my friends and I waited at the stage door for autographs. The first time I saw it - which was a Saturday matinee on a COLD February afternoon on the last day of previews - I got Angela Lansbury (R.I.P.) and Len Cariou's autographs. But the NEXT time we went, Ms. Lansbury and Victor Garber walked out of the stage door together, and we got to meet them and get their autographs. I told Mr. Garber how much I enjoyed him in "Godspell", and how many times I'd watched it, but as I recall, his response was not a pleasant one, as though he'd rather not acknowledge that he was in it. Maybe he was disappointed in how it had been released, or how it performed at the box office, I don't know... Always loved the movie though - and these versions of the songs.

Would you please take photos of your artwork and make a montage to post here? You could do a slideshow with your favorite Godspell song playing in the background. My awesome daughter and I would REALLY love to see it! She's a HUGE Godspell and Victor Garber fan (me too!). Thanks!

Can only hope that Godspell won't be another revival, remake, inspired by, for "this generation," etc. Those usually end up butchered, stripped of the original piece.
@leabugmp6 жыл бұрын
There was a Broadway revival (I thought it was good but definitely different, Schwartz updated the compositions for today's tastes a bit), and unfortunately it didn't do as well as expected, so I doubt anyone will tackle a reboot of the film.
@sarahaustin14064 жыл бұрын
I love your comment it's not easy to make a revive. Or a remake keep to the classic.
@lingeringquestions5193 жыл бұрын
I will say for a film like this, I wouldn't want a remake. The film itself gets wilder than I would expect at times. It's very 70s from my perspective (I was born in 1993) and it always felt like kind of a play about Jesus and about then modern people who probably went to Sunday school together and they reunite.
