Shuhei really got a fucking huge amount of respect from the animators in this arc. One of the best fights in the entire series, he was straight badass. Also one of the coldest Shikai reveals ever.

Way back at the start of the series we were told that shinigami who come close to death get a boost in spiritual pressure (if they survive) Ichigo has nearly died 3 times so far, which added to his natural high levels of spiritual pressure, explains why he's gotten so much stronger.

Hisagi was indeed in the soul society arc. Although did not get a lot of screen time. We have seen him now in two flashbacks. The one you just watched when he was much younger and was saved by the Vizard with the 69 on his chest. The other time was during the flashback with Rengi and Rukia's past after he fought and was defeated by Ichigo. More info on him will become apparent shortly.

Remember Shuhei Hisagi was defeated by Yumichiki in the Soul Society arc and was laying on the roof recovering when he saw the flames of Ryuujin Jakka at theb eginning of Yamamoto's battle. Also in the aftermath of Aizen's betrayal he appeared on the hill talking to Komamura about bringing Kaname back and opening his captain's eyes. He was also the little boy that Kensei saved in the Vaizard's backstory and got the 69 inspiration from him.

Hisagi was the kid that the 69 ex captain saved in one of those lasts episodes,thats why the tattoo. And the good side of the fillers is that you get to know better the characters,for example Hisagi,its not the first time he fights in the show,but since skiped the fillers you get to know them late

a small mistake: while it's true that Bleach is long-running (and we still got the expected final arc to go through), One Piece is just... it has more them 1000 episodes! second to only Pokemon. so if anything it's a LONG LONG running. no end, nothing. and the fact that it takes forever to get from point A to point B in One Piece, further reminds me why i dislike it AND ADORE BLEACH. cause Bleach gets straight to the point. doesn't drag too long (the fillers can't be helped at times. but you can easily bypass them like you did until now). also the characters, OST's, main story, even some of the fillers... BLEACH GREATNESS!

Yeah, the time from point a to b isn't nearly as long as people blame bleach yet overlook one piece. One piece pacing is 1/2 a chap per ep. bleach is about 3-4. He has larger panels thou and more show dont tell. I think one piece could be finished at proper pacing in like 400 eps.

Ichigo power level is just unstable. It fluctuates alot due to the nature of his powers. That's the reason Ulq was able to faceroll him their encounters.

as much as I love this arc it does have boring fights in it and dragging stuff so be prepare for it in the future eps but you guys watched One Piece so what can I say.. lol I'm totally fine that you guys don't talk too much in slow/build up episode(s) and let it be 2 min long discussion at max.

**INFO DUMP** Back in the day, what would tend to happen is that the anime would often be too close to catching up with the manga... just as an example, by the time the manga got to this part(ichigo vs ulqiurra round 2), the anime would be finishing up ichigo vs grimmjow(round 2).. and the rate at which the anime was coming out, which was on a weekly basis, it wouldve caught up to the manga, which wouldve caused a bit of issues.... So what they chose to do is make filler arcs to give the manga time to get further ahead...thats why, if You noticd, after a certain amount of episodes, they cut to a filler arc...so you guys have to skip alot of episodes just to get back to the main story...

Add to that, bleach is alot of show don't tell. Big panels and the author likes people to infer info instead of outright telling them. The most facinating parts about bleach are glossed over world building wise cause the author thinks its silly to have characters living in that world explaining all the little details they should know already. Like why dont they go looking for loved ones, or why dont they work in other parts of the world. We have burn the witch to explain more aspects of their world as well. One piece feels slow cause they do like 1/2 a chapter an episode but each chapter is packed with scenes you can stretch. Bleach feels more modern paced cause the manga chapters have to be forced to atleast do 3 or 4 per ep so they add filler saga's. Reactors are used to modern shows so they get bored by the tiniest bit of buildup with lesser characters cause they want the main fight, but the lesser fights are good. If bleach was modern paced it wouldnt be as fun, you'd be blasting through plot beats and the series would end in like 50 eps IMO. The reason naruto is so beloved is cause it grew up with people. IF it ended in one year like reactors who watch it...then it's kinda one and done ok cool fights i guess on to the next one...people have to gauge expectations. Saying nothing really happen in this eps was an understatement. We see that one dude react to being bossed around, hinting that he's lazy, but somehow top 3, doesnt scream he's below the dude, but on top. The flames which aizen didnt even try avoid. A few jokes to keep things less grim was a thing at the time al dbz ginyu force. sure stuff like demonslayer doesnt do that season 2, but people were bored that season cause the fight took 4 eps to build up and lasted 7 eps. Like i think people are in a consume mentality and no longer really digest material. Not speaking on struckbybelz thou since they explained they understood it is based off manga...more the greater youtube reactors watching older hyped work. old stuff wont meet expectations when you compare to other work you watched before with years of nostalgia, and if it does, it knocked your socks off after more than an episode or two (for people who call a show overrated/when does it get good after watching 3 episodes and dropping).

Bleach suffers from Dragonball Z syndrome where it can take a few episodes to actually make progress in a fight let alone finish it. Its something a lot of shounen jump anime did back in the day.

Yeah, now adays the opposite happens thou. Chainsawman and demon slayer move so quick that people used to older shoenen get annoyed and say they have no time to get attached to characters when they lose. Can't win lol. I'd say bleach seems the most modern of the 3. The introspective parts are more poetic, and the fights are more through line. Naruto for example by the war was full of padded fights and discussions on the themes that were already discussed. Do we need to tell the audience why the bad guy is tragic 3 times lol. And that's not just cause padding for time cause manga, the manga did it too. One piece is cosistant with how it tells its ABC story so it can seem old at times, but that also made it timeless. That said the colorful animation to modernize it made it too dbz when i want dbz i go to dbz. One piece for me was nice cause each had a basic power and used it creatively. Now haki battles and whatever kinda bores me lol. Still good thou.

They said they dont really care for the fights but get bored when the big fights arent happening lol, that said i get it, they mean they want the good stuff faster. There's a way to have talking and build up be just as captivating as the fights. Perfect example, attack on titan scene when eren walks in room with cut hand...the tension comes from the idea any second something will happen, the ticking boom under the table type of thing...tension isnt here from a bunch of cool characters then the bad guy just sits and the other bad guys lose all their tension by acting goofy. That said they have to understand that's to loosen up and the bad guys will offset that with dramatic shifts in violence...I think bleach could have fixed all this if they made it so the flames were shown pushing back from aizen's technique so we know he'll get out soon but it would be unrealistic since we learn later that's basically impossible, those flames were too strong. The filler shows the flames better in that aspect but the show couldnt due to holding back for the future reveal. damn if you do or don't.
