In less than ideal lighting conditions, and in the freezing rain (Come on Scotland this is April, not February) - movements of the early hours of the 27th April 2019 were observed. This would be the final time the Lowland Sleeper would be operated by both Class 86s, 90s, and Mk3s. From Sunday 28th April, all Lowland services will use Mk5s.
Farewell Mk3s, we will miss you (and relish you for a bit longer on the Highland Portion!)

The sleeper guards and shunters are all top blokes. Always game for a laugh.

Does rather feel like someone should have been playing the bagpipes for the end. Love the banter and patter between the staff as they go about it. Must have done it a hundred times before and could do it in their sleep. Even solved the "fault" quickly.

At 8:17 - Is that the LED tailboard that is usually attached at the rear of the last coach?

I had MK3 stock on sunday 23rd of June from Euston. I was looking forward to the new stock. Must have been an issue with it.

I felt sucked about MK3 Sleeper coaches because it’s the best way to make comfortable room and easy to plug in with.

Such a shame to see them go. In my opinion, the Mk3s are still the best coach on the network...

Why with the class 90 on it had two of them at the front and not one ?
@shahedmc9656
@shahedmc9656 4 жыл бұрын
If I'm not mistaken the 2nd one was actually a driving van trailer (DVT) not a loco.
@PhilSmith71
@PhilSmith71 3 жыл бұрын
@@shahedmc9656 It was a Class 90 as it had a cab at each end whereas a DVT has a single cab. You can also just make out the loco number (90044?) below the driver’s window on the rear cab of the second loco.

Would have been a positioning move, instead of running it light engine just tag it onto the sleeper to get it to where it needs to be.

Hmm, didn't know they have some sort of automatic couplers, like these on Russian railways.
@MrJezza31
@MrJezza31 5 жыл бұрын
They don't, they have a buckeye for the physical bit - but they rely on someone connecting the brake and heat pipes.
@markoobid2005
@markoobid2005 5 жыл бұрын
@@MrJezza31 yes that's why I'm talking about. They don't have classic "screwdriver" coupler, except for locomotive coupling. Just like the Russian SA3.
