Because I wasn't choked up enough already, at 21:33 the camera pans to that poor worker crying who just lost his job and his local K Mart... I"m crying! I'm so sorry this st ore had to close, the employees to break up their family and you to lose your childhood KMart. Your video will go down as one of your landmark works. Poignant and telling and full of heart and respect. That's why everyone likes you and you to film the heart and guts of this store and other places. You show respect and you are never pushy and good comes your way. I can see you are sad something special in your chlldhood is gone. It shows in your filming (touched with your humorous moments which we need.) The logo on your shirt is somewhat ironic: that store looked like it was invaded by zombies. Thanks for all you do to get us to appreciate and realize as KMart, Sears and other places are shuttered we are losing something special in our lives. This video MUST GO VIRAL! It's an instant classic as I posted on Facebook. Thanks agian.

I worked the penultimate day there. I'm glad that YOU got that sign, It will at least stay in Shaler! (I got three floor plan blueprints from 1969, They're not leaving Pittsburgh either.) What REALLY sucks, is that some of the nicest people that I ever worked with were at that KMart. I cannot say that about many other places. If I am ever FORCED to deal with the Waterworks Wally World, I do have a red Christmas ornament, and I will chuck it (if I have to) towards an "associate" for assistance! (assuming I CAN find one there.) You did this old girl proud, with sentiment and humor. These videos are a treasure and a documentary.

I cant imagine having to say goodbye to people who become friends and family like that. I cant believe its been 2 years now since the store closed, as well. Everyone at our Shaler location were some of the nicest and friendliest people around aside from West View and the other locations in the Pittsburgh area. I'm wondering if we'll see any familiar faces once Ollie's opens here.

Man, I totally understand how you feel ---- Kmart was where my parents shopped in the 1980s before we Walmart arrived in Coastal Mississippi --- I got injured on my forehead and front teeth at 4 years old at the Kmart in D'Iberville, Mississippi...something I will never forget....the original building is still there but it was divided into a Dollar Tree, Big Lots, Aaron's and Burke's Outlet (Burke's just closed like a week ago!) I got emotional when the man announced the store had finally closed after 50+ years.....so upsetting but glad you to keep a piece of the store.

Great production! Makes me sad in a way. This isn’t a bad thing to say since you brought up some great memories for me. When I was a kid, my Mom would buy the deli ham at our closest store because one had a deli area before Super Kmarts. Also back in 1970’s, they used to tear off the price tag and file under the “Key xx”. This was prior to UPC codes. I used to live between 3 Kmarts. The last KMart by me closed up 2 years ago. I have memories where it was the only place where they had Nintendo DS for my Son’s Christmas gift when they first came out. I got up at 4 am on a snowy morning to be there. We got more folding chairs there for Thanksgiving on a short notice, over 10 years ago and still have them! There used to be a lot of great stuff there. If they centered around what worked like their Holiday and Seasonal stuff it would have made money. Christmas decorations were awesome to buy and rivaled Target. My last souvenir from that store was a reusable red bag that says “I’m awesome, I’m a Kmart Shopper.” I used it so much even now during the Pandemic I keep it to put delivery in. That’s a prized possession for me, odd I know but so true.

Thank you for documenting this store, I gave the video a "like" although it was hard to do now that I'm an employee of Sears and really dislike seeing any of these stores close. We have a HUGE store in a great location with great employee's so I'm looking forward to promoting that, our store is now expanding the infant/toddler furniture department and they added a small toy department before Christmas. The toy department is clearly a shipment from a Kmart store that closed or was closing so it just was directed to our store which tends to do well. We have an immense amount of space not being used and I made a comment to the manager giving us our tour during the orientation how this store would be an excellent location for a Kmart within a Sears and she said they had been discussing it. We seem to have a great team of managers who care and are pushing for positive changes at our store so it looks like I found myself a great place to work while we see where things go with the company. If they do the Kmart in the Sears concept, I'm switching sides and going to work for the K.
