I find it oddly wholesome that Bakugo and Deku both share the same mindset about their matches with Todoroki. Deku is angry that Todoroki was only putting in half his effort while everyone else was giving it their all. Bakugo was disappointed that he gave it his all and Shoto stopped himself at the last minute. They both have this desire to do their best but go about it in their own different ways.

Well... Bakugo basically finds other people as being extras in his own path to become the nº1 hero. He doesn't care about another's problems, as long he proves he is better than the rest. When Todoroki stopped himself from using his left side, Bakugo found that as insult to his own power.

about shoto's mum: after she threw boiling water on him she had a complete breakdown, so all this time she's been at a psychiatric ward. the end scene was the first time they had seen each other since that incident.

also, after she threw boiling water on him, she used her quirk to but ice on the burn. Note- DO NOT but ice on a burn. It can cause even more tissue damage (and possibly a cool looking scar)

I always felt really bad for Bakugo here bc there's nothing wrong with wanting to be taken seriously and be the indisputable winner so that no one can question his victory and then to be the winner of the entire sports festival merely because someone else "gave up" would hurt anyone's pride. You can hear the pain in his voice when he's begging Todoroki to keep going even tho I know Todoroki has his own trauma to work through :( I also like that they really showed us that he's not just a dumb hot head, but that Bakugo is actually super smart and a good strategist, he definitely should not be underestimated lol sorry I just really love his character while acknowledging he definitely has some things to work on

Bakugou' frustrations makes even more sense when you consider he didn't win fairly the other matches as well. Uraraka knock herself out before he could fight seriously with her, kirishima lost his hardening mid fight, tokoyami was at a disadvantage and now this.

Dont forget he had a hard time with both the previous games as well, getting 3rd in the race, and then not even getting close to actually fight Deku or Todoroki for the 100,000,000 points in the Cavalry battle.

He did win fairly. Uraraka got knocked out because of the attacks from Bakugo, Kirishima lost his hardening because of Bakugo’s strategy, he beat him with brains, and against Tokoyami he figured out Dark Shadow’s weakness, without figuring it out it wouldnt have gone the same way. Plus everyone fought their hardest except for Todoroki.

I still want Baku´s boots, they look so cool *.* Also fun fact: I got into BnHA because of this fight shown in an AMV xD Just the way Bakugou methodically blasted through the ice and all^^ Funny how Deku trying to help both of them, Bakugou went into the complete opposite direction than Todoroki^^ And that in regard to total different situations - you´d think it would be simpler to take Deku´s hand when he wants to help you up from the ground, but obviously not xD

Bakugo's callous, prideful and disturbingly violent but there's never a dull moment with him on screen. He is really entertaining, especially this episode. His voice actor(Nabuhiko Okamoto) does a phenomenal job. But Shoto Todoroki was, is and will always remain my favorite.

honestly, to me, there’s a few episodes in the anime that rlly tell bakugous arc so well even if you haven’t seen the episodes in between: it starts with what we see in 1x1, the kind of person he is at the start, and all the first impressions we get from him. then we see the first catalyst for his development in his fight with izuku. another one follows here. then him and izuku against all might. don’t wanna spoil anything but 3x7, 3x18 and ESPECIALLY 3x23 are going to be even more milestones on his absolutely crazy redemption arc. you’re not gonna notice these subtle evolutions all at once, but once you get to 3x23, all pieces of him are going to fall into place. i remember hating bakugou so much for the first two seasons and when 3x23 came around, i suddenly got him. i knew who he was. i can’t wait to see you guys get to that episode & i hope it’ll move you as much as it did me bcs lord is it going to be interesting. these three - bakugou, izuku and todoroki- are a hell of a line up for main characters. the internal relationships and conflicts are absolutely insane and they’re one of my favorite trios in anime ever. it’s so nice to feel excited over their growth all over again

thanks for calling out shoto's mom as the worst, too. so many people think Endeavour is bad, but his mom threw the pot of water at him. she had the mental breakdown, and even if it was because of the way Endeavour treated her, she had a choice to leave and take the kids. instead she let the resentment consume her to where she couldn't even look at her children. that's her decision to horribly scar him. they're both awful but for some reason people excuse her like she didn't have any choice but to hurt her kid

I think you're not taking seriously Todoroki's mom's mental state when she threw the pot of boiling water. Endeavor was abusive to all of his family. His obcession to surprass All Might led him to neglect his other children and bully his wife so she would not interfeer on Shoto's training. Because Shoto's left side is the spitting image of his father, his mom started to project her fear to the part of her son that ressembled Endeavor. When Shoto approached his mother when she was boiling water for tea, she was in a vulnerable state, as she was venting to her mother about how she couldn't stop seeing her husband on her son's left side. So she could only react to her fear and threw the water on Shoto. I mean, even Shoto himself found Endeavor to be the real responsible. He never blame his mother for it and only get even angrier at his father when he sent her away.

She absolutely did not have a choice to leave and take her kids and she didn’t “choose” to scar him. That’s why she was on the phone in the first place.Remember Endeavor literally BOUGHT her. It’s the same reason he’s keeping her locked up in the psych ward instead of letting her live alone. The subtiles in the anime convey this terribly, she did not throw boiling water on him out of spite or anger. She has severe ptsd and was startled and threw the pot as a defense mechanism because she was on the phone talking about her husband, with the possibility of getting caught, and could only see the left side of his face. (Her husband is violent duh). They only address this in the manga, but Todorokis scar is from when his mother tried to use her ice to treat him immediately right after she threw it which made it worse. She not in the right state of mind. There’s a reason Todoroki never blamed the incident on her, AND didn’t see her until all this time, to avoid giving her another mental breakdown. Mind you this happened spoiler: right after their first child died, because of Endeavor.

However I didn't know she tried to treat Shoto's burns with her ice... Even when she tried to fix her mistake, she could only damage him even more (as ice only worses the damages caused by the burn)... Now that's messed up.

Bakugo is one of my favorite now. He is the character that the worst sides are shown early, and the best sides are revealed later in the story. And if you are skilled like bakugo(not only in a fight), you have every right to stomp over the episodes 😂

I don’t dislike him but he’s not my favorite character. He’s a good fighter I can’t stand his personality though. I much prefer the brooding edgy types like Todoroki which is funny because the VA of Todoroki plays Eren from AOT who is also my favorite character.

let´s say there´s a difference between liking a character because of how they are written and liking a character personally: If I ever met someone like Bakugou I would not like him and stay out of his way, but as character I like him because he is this way xD (and because his character developement requires that he has to work hard on it^^)
