And yeah, Tensei being wounded was gutpunch. You can't help but feel proud of Todoroki's progress to become a better person and starting line as a hero.

This is one of the things that puts this show above others. Todoroki has had to deal with this Father's abuse for his whole life. As powerful as Deku's actions were people don't get over mental issues like that after 1 event. It's like he said he's starting the healing process

That's what makes this character development so good. Issues like that cannot be resolved by a pep talk. It's just not that easy. In many other shounen anime, a good fight is portrayed as being able to solveinternal struggles, but that's not realistic and fortunately the series didn't go the easy route.

Before as I was watching the series, I never quite noticed this. You were wondering if Todoroki was dead, and obviously he wasn't, but with the sudden change in Bakugou's voice and his facial expression, Bakugou might've, and for at least a second, I think he did think that he might've killed Todoroki. He panicked. He was mad about not getting a real win, yeah, but in that moment he was also afraid. People are always telling him that he would be a better villain, and the series has hinted at little things numerous times to show what Bakugou could be thinking, but most people look past them or miss them. One thing I had pointed out to myself, was Bakugou started being more careful with his quirk after the fight with Deku that he lost because of his strategy. He completely ruined Deku's arm, and after that, he started being more careful with his quirk. This moment really scared him, and people telling him that he was a jerk during the fight with Ururaka surely wasn't helping either.

I mean I don't hate Bakugou but good god does he need some mandatory anger management sessions. Also when I saw him in the mask I thought of Hanibal Lecter... On the Todoroki subject, I do love this arc so much, and Horikoshi for doing it. Usually, in shows like this, the person with the issues gets over them pretty quickly, sometimes even after the protagonist makes their speech. Here tho, Todoroki got some food for thought but his conflict with his father and his issues don't go away just because someone pointed them out. He is confused about the whole thing, which is pretty realistic. People don't change in an instant, and when they have deep-rooted issues that have been there for like 10 years or so they will need to sleep on it, and will need time to figure it all out. As I said, I love how seriously Horikoshi treats this subject.

One thing I love about Bakugou is that he always tries to push everyone to be their best. Granted, he does it so he can indisputably defeat them, but it’s still working. Midoriya and him are the two main driving forces of this class.

You may not see this since it’s been a week. But Todoroki canonically has one sister, whom we saw in this episode and is named Fuyumi (who if you can’t tell by her hair color primarily had her mothers ice power) and two brothers. One of them again, has his mother ice powers as her quirk while the other brother has their father’s quirk. Which is why they were all deemed failures to Endeavor. He wanted a child with both his power and his wife’s power.

Cause he SHOULD have died. He "appears" to have died. Why wouldn't he be dead? They had 2 or 3 opportunities to kill him but they didn't. Ida even got to talk to him (one "last" time = in what should have been his last goodbye). It's over, you CAN dispatch his character and capitalize on the drama. Up the stakes. Great. But no... They milked it for 2/3 episodes and then saved his ass...They tried to both bake the cake and eat it themselves. Doesn't work. Not for me, at least. They didn't want us to permanently remember Scar as an unredeemable murder for the rest of the series or have both the audience and the characters completely ignore the "righteous" and "relevant" side of his ideology (especially Ida) [although his contribute to the construction of the general ideology of the series isn't that relevant or memorable but yeah...]. Scar has to appear somewhat "relatable" and “righteous” and not simply 100% deranged. Not that killing Ingenium would have changed any of that….Ida would have still have been forced to somehow seek vengeance, fail to fulfill his vengeance, "forgive him"/dowse his own desires of personal vengeance and reinstate his priorities as a hero (=mature as a hero, evolve as a hero) cause that's what the series' hero staple and Code constantly mandates. [unfortunately…] So, yeah...They could (and in my opinion, SHOULD) have killed him, no issues whatsoever.

I'm a little late, but I just watched this episode, and I felt that I needed to say something. I was flat-out HORRIFIED when Bakugo was hauled up to that First Place Stand like that. I didn't initially realize that he had been awake when he'd been chained up, and that the attendants had had to do this to him to get him up on stage. Part of me was illogically thinking that Midnight had put him in bondage, which is, alongside being non-consentual and a forcing of kinks onto a stranger, a personal worst-fear of mine. Besides being triggering for me, Bakugo is LITERALLY 15 YEARS OLD! That's a kind of humiliation that NOBODY should have to go through! Imagine how WRONG it must have felt for him, being awarded what he knew he'd receive, but in a way that made everyone (in the entire COUNTRY) see him as a monster. Even Tokoyami, one of the most levelheaded students in the class alongside Yaoyorozu, flat-out called him a feral animal. Some people in the fandom might see that as an accurate, even affectionate label for him, but in this moment it just represented flat-out dehumanization. Just imagine how traumatic that moment would be for him in later years, and him having to think of that moment whenever someone would ask him how he became a hero! Bakugo might have anger issues, but he's still a PERSON. I'm just... really upset that this plot point was written in, even though I'm sure it's going to be a moment of character development later on.

Love your reactions, and I know I'm literally a year late but,,,, no ones talking about this so I will: They literally tied Katsuki up on live television exactly like a villain, forced him to accept a medal that he didn't feel like he earnt because of his moral code, and basically screamed to the world that he was a horrible person. And Izuku, who has literally risked his life for him in multiple situations, doesn't do anything about it. THEY PUT A MUZZLE ON HIM. DO THEY NOT REALIZE THAT HE WAS SUBJECT TO A SLIME VILLIAN ATTACK THAT RESTRAINED HIM IN THE EXACT SAME WAY. AND THEY'RE ALL OKAY WITH IT. Imagine his trauma. Also, can I just say that Aizawa should have done something about it. ALL MIGHT IS SUPPOSED TO BE A GOOD GUY. ALL THE PRO HEROES SAT AND WATCHED AS A KID WAS RESTRAINED. Poor Katsuki. Pretty sure the medal got stuck in his teeth. If you couldn't tell, Bakugou's my fav character.
