$100 tier backer on NightCry here - I remember leaving for MagFest and the game still needed about 20k or so to make it aross the line. The campaign had been pretty slow in the final weeks so I was worried it would fall short. The community was pretty small but very passionate about Clock Tower as a series. My backer rewards were painless, even though the lead up to release was really rocky (rough overview videos with clunky narration). As for Hifumi Kouno he said in an interview that Clock Tower 2 did extremely well, much better than expected and everybody got a holiday bonus as a result. He's also who we have to thank for the Steel Battalion controller.

So, I would like to correct you on one thing, Ending C is most likely the cannon ending as the sequel establishes that jen was the only survivor and that is the only ending where she learns Dan's name.

Adore this game, gave me first of those "randomly launches his completely legal SNES games, it's in Japanese, it's spooky, get the "no ham in cage" Dead End, get trauma" back in 2005. Was very fun to watch you two evading scissoring with Jenny, hope Legacy of Darkness happens someday!

The first 3d clocktower is a pretty good classic and worth checking out. The next one is pretty bad and annoying but has a few funny awkward cutscenes and animations that ALMOST make it worth it.

The unity talk at the end reminded me of Human entertainment previous game for SNES called SOS/Septentrión about surviving a sinking Titanic and how that is a technical marvel. I don't know if you have played 2Dark a stealth game but it has some themes (child kidnapping) which is not for everyone

What a great and cinematic game. 16-bit perfection; I didn't know before this video series that the game was ported to the playstation, but I remembered getting the same vibe in the PS1 days from the game "D" - similar gameplay elements and multiple endings based on how you went through it.

Yeah I remember playing through the Clock Towers with a friend, I struggled to hide how much I wasn't enjoying 3 and when we finished I had to just turn around and saying nah I really didn't like this one, and was so glad that she let out a sigh and said oh thank fuck I didn't want to say anything that might negatively change your opinion. We then spent a solid 2 hours laughing about all the goofyness etc of CT3 XD

Clock Tower 2 (not The Struggle Within) has a super weird thing going where the voice acting is English in both Japanese and English releases but it's different voice acting for both. The Japanese version has better voice acting, but I don't know why the English cast put in a worse performance when it released outside Japan.

I bought Nightcry on Steam, cause I loved the campy atmosphere, but the gameplay was just too much. I actually got the island part, but quit soon after. It's a shame, cause the has potential. It's also kind of unfair that they left people who payed for it with such an unfinished mess of a game.

I think any of the other clocktower games, even 3, are great for LPs. Some arent good games but there is always a lot to talk about. Honestly the first one is the best but most boring IMO.
