This game is partly based on the movie called Phenomena, which stars Jennifer Connelly, and also Donald Pleasance. The scissor killer even looks like the mutated kid from the movie too. Very creepy movie, I highly recommend it, it deserves more attention.

I was just gonna mention that. Yeah the first clocktower game was heavily influenced by Dario Argento's Phenomena, starring Jennifer connely who has the ability to command insects. Definitely worth watching

Really it's inspired by a mixture of various Argento films. The person falling through the glass ceiling is pure Suspiria for example.

Also, Clock Tower borrows from the 1981 movie The Burning, a slasher where the killer uses a pair of gardening scissors. You guys might want to check it out if you're into this type of movie, it's totally overlooked.

You probably want to stop running around everywhere when you're not being chased, since it rapidly changes Jennifer's fear level. If Jennifer is red then it means she won't fight back against the scissorman, and you're more likely to fall over when being chased. So you want to avoid being in a red state as much as possible.

So, I'm sure there are a few people who kept wondering "What is this _NightCry_ thing they keep talking about?" It was a 2016 spiritual successor made by Hifumi Kono, the original developer of the _Clock Tower_ series, after he left Human Entertainment, who continued to make more _Clock Tower_ games without him.

Unfortunately the PS1 version (or perhaps just the fan translation patch) has an issue where the scream sound effect plays repeatedly, turning it from a pretty good scream, for a SNES game, to a very odd siren.

I'm pleased the boys are back at it. With Liam's move and all, I wasn't confident this could happen. As to the game so far, do we think Jennifer is unpopular in the group and they all simultaneously decided to ditch her the second she left the room? Or did they get hit with a spoooooky miasma which immediately made them split up and act like horror movie victims? Also, in the ending you got... did Scissor Man have to awkwardly drive the car back to the mansion afterwards? What if it crashed violently, that could have killed him! It's almost as if this guy is doing wild and silly things just to surprise the audience...

One important thing about this game is running to much makes her panic meter go up. To get her back to normal you stop in place and she'll sit down it takes a little time but she'll go back to normal after a couple of minutes. Also if your in the red you can't fight back if you get cornered.

I had no idea there was a remake of the first game. My brother bought clock tower for PS1 (clock tower 2 in Japan) and it was such a cool unique point and click horror that I have trusted his opinion on horror games ever since, he told me about project zero 2 (fatal frame) and I had to stop playing it in the middle of the night as a full grown adult.

Yo! Love these teamup LP's with Liam! Though it's a bit sad that Clock Tower is such a short game. At 50 minutes a pop we'll probably only get 3 or 4 episodes out of it. Hopefully they have a second game planned or something. Would love to see them play through Legacy of Darkness after Liam mentioned he wanted to check it out during the last Castlevania LP.

On the subject of SNES games on PS1, Square's ports were a real mixed bag. On one hand, they'd add in some neat FMVs (among which, Chrono Trigger's definitely aged the best, but they all seemed pretty cool at the time). But then when you played them, it would inexplicably take a small eternity to load after any kind of screen transition.

I wonder when the remaster gonna come out? Even tho some say "best" version is the Hack on the Snes, as that added PS1 features, and rebalance the gameplay, like you walk faster, regain "health/energy" faster, and able to run on the stairs. There's also a Japanese PC port that been translated that got the fmv's, but it's only a few MBs big? makes me wonder it's just the PS1 cutscenes with the Snes game? with no CD music or audio sounds. Even tho I think Snes music and audio sounds is better, as the ps1 sounded way different and off.
