I saw one vet react to this Sabaton history video and said they should tear the camp down. Why keep a place of such evil standing. And I relayed to him the reason it's still standing is to be a reminder that this could happen again.

Many people didn’t believe when those two who escaped told about the atrocities. Plus they didn’t have the resources to bomb over a runout which “was likely untrue” at the time of 1944. 1945 is when everything started coming to the light.

I live on the other side of the world from Auschwitz, but even get chills and heavy heart from just hearing about this. Also, don't care for holocaust deniers. They belong in same category as flat earthers.

I visited Sobibór last summer. It's in my area, 1,5 h drive. There is a new built museum on the place of the concentration camp with the pictures, documents, some items, belongings and stories from that past. No barracks or other infracture, just forest, rails... There is a film Escape from Sobibor (Ucieczka z Sobiboru) starring Joanna Pacula, Rutger Hauer... Some people say that this film unfortunately doesnt show the true picture of this camp. It looks too luxurious in this film. But I liked the plot in the whole. I've visited some concentration camps: Majdanek, Stutthoff, Ravensbruk and other Polish war-affected places and although Auschwitz (Oświęcim) is not very far - I pass. I watched a lot of films and documentaries and it's enough for me. It mustn't be forgotten. Thank you Sabaton for your songs. Thank you for reacting to this topik. :-)

Sorry for the late response. Have you visited Treblinka? I don't want to go there because I think it would hurt too much.

@@reliantncc1864 Not yet, but a good plan. Only 100 km, there is a museum there I'll definitely visit soon. By the way, last month I visited Osowiec Fortress :) Interesting. And kpt Raginis's grave in Wizna fields.

@@agnieszkazuk Oh, that's the "Attack of the Dead Men" fortress. Neat. You certainly live in a convenient location. As an American, I don't get good access to a lot of major historical sites. I have plans to visit Vienna soon, though, so I can at least say I saw the location for "Winged Hussars."

@@reliantncc1864in Viena there is the Kahlengerg Hill with the church where Jan III Sobieski attended the holy mass before starting the siege. I've been there 3 times. Unfortunately you can't see the Hill properly. Pozdrawiam

The Wannse conference is dramatized in the excellent movie Conspiracy (2001) starring Kenneth Branagh, Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci. One of my favorite movies of all time. HIghly recommended.

In Germany we have Laws against talking shit about this Part of our History. Denying the Holocaust or playing it down is an actual crime here. And we keep these Sites as memorials to prevent it from happening again. I Myself was in Auschwitz once and its a very difficult experience to see what our ancestors have done. But it also was and is a very important experience.

I'm an American and I usually oppose any limits on free speech, but I understand Germany's laws about Holocaust denial and Nazi symbols. I appreciate that Germany still has requirements that children learn about the Holocaust in schools. I wish we had better education on it here, even though it didn't impact us that much.

@@reliantncc1864 oh we have freedom of speech too but we also following the logic that your freedom ends where it infringes the freedom of others. And our first article of the Constitution reads as follows: "Human dignity shall be inviolable. To respect and protect it shall be the duty of all state authority" so you are not allowed to insult others cause it's against their dignity. You can use harsh words if necessary and if it goes to be decided at court they will look at the circumstances and often you just get away with a warning. But depending on your words it can also happen that you get fined for these words. The first 21 articles of our constitution are such a masterpiece and something that defines our other laws. So freedom of speech like in America is kinda crap, sorry to say so but I don't see the need to legally insult people without getting any consequences. It's just not nice to insult others ore degrading them with words.
@eagle616311 ай бұрын
@@reliantncc1864 just compare your constitution with ours lay them side by side and you can see the differences. Something like the laws in Florida wouldn't even be possible here in Germany. That doesn't mean that everything is perfect over here but I know why more and more Americans coming over here.
@reliantncc186411 ай бұрын
@@eagle6163 Yes, the main difference I see is that when the German constitution talks about rights, it basically says the government can ignore those rights any time it decides to. The idea that you could bring government force to punish something that offends someone is shockingly brutal. I'm sorry you don't understand freedom of speech. A constitution isn't needed to protect speech that bothers no one. It's needed to protect speech that some people want to silence.
@eagle616311 ай бұрын
@@reliantncc1864 oh that kind of speech is pretty good protected here in Germany. It's even it's one of the highest rights here in Germany. As long as you do it in a civilized manner and it doesn't goes on protected minorities and their rights or playing down the Holocaust then you can nearly say everything as long as it does not harm anyone else. Just read the different articles carefully and compare it to your constitution in some points they are kinda similar.
