I’m really excited to see a film taking place in my home state of Michigan. And it stars my fellow native Michigander Ryan Destiny! I could tell from her work in the lead, title role in the indie move “A Girl Like Grace” that she was a great talent. What I saw of the FOX series “Star,” solidified that impression. It looks like she put her all into training for “The Fire Inside” and lives up to the promise of her early work.

I love this trailer’s bait and switch. 👍🏽 It builds excitement up to the midpoint. Then for a moment it seems like it’s going to be another preview that annoyingly gives away the ending. But just when I started to say, “Welp, no need to bother seeing this one,” the trailer took a major turn. The way Claressa Shields goes from Olympic gold back to working-class or maybe impoverished reality is very intriguing. Even though I know how her story turned out, this is a biopic that makes me want to see how it’s depicted. I plan to be right there at the theater to see this the day it opens! 🥊🎥🎭👏🏽
