Bill, you were right, that first pin greaser was the correct one to use. But that end is too large. The one I used for many years the end is much smaller. Also I put a slight bend in the tube which which makes it easier for some u joints and CV shaft center bearings. Try a regular auto parts store, hopefully they don't have another China one like you have. Take yours along to compare before purchase.

Hey just to let you know your new truck oil filter takes cartridges as well but it is easy to change it out because it’s not in a hard place to reach it because my brother a power stroke like yours but it is actually the 6.4 model engine including my dad has a 6.0 and he has to do the same thing you do for your truck on his for when he changes his oil at home! Just letting ya know so that when it comes time to change it you’ll know where it is located on the top of your engine

Nice work Bill. I have the same problem you have. Seems as if they make cars too close to the ground. Na I’m just getting fatter...lol Every house needs a pit to work on these darn cars..Thanks Bill.

Hey bill try using a socket to loosen the oil filter cap it may be easier .my 14 Jetta tdi has the has kind cap and filter I use a 32 mm socket from crappy tire

The purpose of changing the final drive fluid is to flush out the initial metal shavings. It's listed in the manual for a reason.
@coreymchugh3635 жыл бұрын
if I'm not mistaken that grease zert has a bolt around it try take that bolt of. I've seen a few that are like that and reasoning is so the nut protects the zert fitting itself from being sheared off. I could be wrong but a suggestion kinda like lubing a weed whacker head
@jeffreymurdock83665 жыл бұрын
Hey Bill, little trick to do final drive. Use a short length of rubber tubing to refill it. That's what I do in tight spots like that. Works very nicely in most cases.

Hey bill just a heads up not sure if you know this or not but with gm motors you have to run that Dexos oil. A mechanic buddy of mine told me have to run that in their and if you don’t run it in their and something happens to the motor gm won’t back it if they find out you didn’t use dexos oil
@Chuckiewashere5 жыл бұрын
Well saying it was built by Polaris and Covered under Polaris's Warranty your "Mechanic Buddy" doesn't know what he is talking about
@chadder19k5 жыл бұрын
Charles Stuber I’m not talking about the Polaris, what I was saying is that gm motors take dexos motor oil if you want anything covered from them and my buddy is an ase certified mechanic so I’ll take what he tells me on Chevy stuff

Man you don’t need to go through all that to change the oil! I did mine on a level surface without ramps. All you need is a long extension.
@dphillips7055 жыл бұрын
not saying it is the same on those by any means but usually on vehicles the hatch mark area indicates 1 letre?
@eosjoe5655 жыл бұрын
Why are you questioning the drain plug torque specs? You saw yourself when you removed it that it wasn't very tight. I'm sure the factory tightened it correctly. Aluminum drain pans don't like tight bolts.
@billstmaxx5 жыл бұрын
That’s awesome for them when it vibrates loose and the oil drains on the road. I get torque specs but that was barely tightened.
@eosjoe5655 жыл бұрын
@@billstmaxx I understand but keep in mind you were on the other end of an 18-inch ratchet. Had you been using a normal wrench it would have probably felt plenty tight. When it doubt - always go with the published torque spec.

Maybe try a LocNLube fitting on the grease gun, best thing since sliced bread!
@eosjoe5655 жыл бұрын
I love the LNL coupler but you'd never get it in there on that drive shaft as the barrel of the coupler is a bit larger than a standard grease gun coupler.

You do realize that a Polaris Slingshot is much wider and longer than any motorcycle right. Its actually wider than a Chevy Corvette. No one has ever said that traffic cant see these. It is the opposite actually. 99% of traffic stare at you so its not like your missed in traffic. I have ridden motorcycles and had times when I was almost hit. Never with my Slingshot.
@John-viheavyequipment5 жыл бұрын
maybe its because they use a break in oil that lets it wear in faster
@johnmilner76035 жыл бұрын
When you use a torque wrench, if you can, use it without a universal cause the torque multiplication is not exactly the same. 18 lb ft =216 lb in and not 214. 18x12=216. You need a new batt in your calculator. Specs of metal are in the oil from machining and that's why the 1st drain interval is low km/mi. You want the crud out. Invest in one of these to fill your rear axle and manual gear box my1970z28.com/COPO/images/suction_gun.JPG For greasing the universal on the driveshaft, I use the small grease gun from Crappy Tire and I used a grinder to grind the side wall of the grease fitting on the grease gun until it fit. Use QTS, it's easier. WTH is 4.8 L? Really. Whomever writes the manuals are not always correct. Use the dipstick and record the Qts for next time.

What are you on about?
@eosjoe5655 жыл бұрын
You can't be serious. That is the simplest oil filter change I've ever seen. Try doing a similar cartridge swap UNDER the engine with the cartridge pointing DOWN. Talk about a mess. Why oh why is everyone moving from spin-on oil filters back to cartridges that require all sorts of special tools? I mean, my old Ford 8N used a cartridge and the first thing I did was covert it to a spin-on. Why? Because spin-on are way easier and no special tools required.
@billstmaxx5 жыл бұрын
I like the invention of the spin on
@AStanton19665 жыл бұрын
I believe that the new Mustang Shelbys use cartridges as well as the Dodge Charger. We have one on our Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk and I hate it. Because it sits on top of the engine, if you get it wrong, it leaks all over your engine. I also heard of people cracking the cartridge's housing during an oil change. Another PITA to worry about.
