The tradeoff is exactly the same as big gear - small gear setup. The easy end of the lever experiences more travel and less immediate force required, the smaller end of the lever experiences less travel but requires more of the force upfront. Levers, pulleys, gears - all "stretch" your workload so it can be divided into smaller forces over longer distance.

Somebody should really invent a "pressey" I realized how that sounded after I typed it.
@AstroBrindanАй бұрын
👁️👄👁️
@TinaDanielssonАй бұрын
Simple. Make a hole/slit in something that can stand high pressure (the pressee). Put a pressure object below it (the presser), make sure to have a fitting distance between them. Attach a rope to the presser through the hole/slit. Attach the other end of the rope to the pressey (which by pure accident looks remarkably like a pulley). Place an item between the presser and the pressee. Press the end of the rope away from the slit/hole. The item is now thoroughly pressed. I will apply for a worldwide patent asap.
@mrsoisauce90179 күн бұрын
Easy. Just put something on the end of a pulley with a metric fuck ton of weight. Pull the weight up and then put something under it. Release the weight back on the item gently so it presses on the item. Done

It's not a difficult concept to explain. You move 1 end of the system a lot and the other end moves very slightly. This means that you can move the end of the lever a km and the other end of the lever moves like 1cm of course your lever would have to be made of something strong enough to do this.
