I didn’t know about Jumping Flash until I heard about Jumping Flash 2. It was on my PS1 demo disc back then, however, it was a trailer for Jumping Flash 2. When I got the PlayStation Classic which I called it PS1 Mini, that’s when I started playing Jumping Flash. The PS1 Mini included Jumping Flash among with other PS1 games including Final Fantasy 7 and Rayman. I brought Jumping Flash though the PS Store on PS4 and I’m going to play it this spring. I feel like it’s perfect for Easter because Robbit is a robot rabbit. This is a great video and it’s the 1st CGE video of 2024.

I remember playing Jumping Flash as one of my very first console video game experiences I could only ever get to level 4 (world 1 level 1) but I enjoyed what I could play of the game

I didn't really get into playing until a few years ago, but man, Jumping Flash is so good and honestly, for all it's innovations, still kinda holds up. I'm glad it's so easily available, it's worth experiencing for any classic platformer fan

So technically Alpha Waves was the first 3D Platformer but Geograh Seal was the first 3D shooter platformer and Jumping Flash was the first 3D Platformer Shooter that kicked it up a notch.

Actually the very first first person shooter was Doom as it came out in 1993, a year before this game released

FYI Mario was named and platforming as early as Mario Bros (1983) rather than Super Mario Bros (1985).

I think the saddest part about Jumping Flash is like Crash and Spyro, it actually managed to be a trilogy on the PS1 ...but the third game remained a Japanese exclusive, a reverse of what happened with Spyro's third title never being released over there.

While Super Mario 64 didn't invent 3D platforming, it DID set a gold standard for the genre. Just like how even though Super Mario Bros. came out after Pitfall, it still set a new standard for 2D platformers.

Google says Alpha Waves and I have to agree, one day someone will look at today's video games and call them privative so that's a moot point "The earliest example of a true 3D platformer is a French computer game called Alpha Waves, created by Christophe de Dinechin and published by Infogrames in 1990 for the Atari ST, Amiga, and IBM PC compatibles. Bug! (1995) extended traditional platformer gameplay in all directions."
