There is a theory that one of the big milestones towards being an intelligent species is that we don't focus on the immediate moment at all times. You know when people say "just live in the moment" or to "be present right now"? Thats what they are talking about. Your dog isn't thinking about what he is going to do that night, or in two days, he's just thinking about whats going on right now. Other Ryan didnt notice the bird land because he wasn't "in the moment" but instead was devoting his mental resources to abstract concepts and thinking about possible futures. And with the obvious imagery of the clean, civilized man talking to the dirty brute, the symbolism of man being uplifted and becoming an "intelligent" species is just so obvious. Or I've had too much weed and coffee this morning. Either way, big fan
