The First Omen Review: Blasphemy is Back!

I’ve watched all 3 original Omens. Honestly I’m kind on the fence. In The Omen I think the most blasphemous thing was him being born of a jackal. There is no human element to Damien. Only other horror movie I’ve seen this year was Late Night with The Devil which was crazy good.

Agree with you 100%! It was so beautifully filmed, the acting and cast was solid. And that one girl who looks like young Elizabeth Taylor. A worthy addition to the original Omen film. i will be watching The Omen maybe tonight just to follow through. Great post!

I haven’t seen any of the Omen movies (especially its forgettable 2006 remake). I’ve burned out on some horror movie prequels that are not good, and now, we get a new Omen movie that is…good?!

@@FlickeringMyth Exactly, so for me the lore hasn't changed because in the 1976 movie the grave with the jackal can easily be his father now.

The "Its mother was a jackal" line was an adlib from a very drunk Patrick Troughton in the OG Film, the Screenplay and Novelization just said a jackal was involved in the ritual to bring the Antichrist spirit over to the mortal plane. Also, the Novelization and Screenplay clearly stated Father Brennan`s fear and guilt fucked with his memory of how exactly the ritual went and he just knew the cultists buried the jackal in the mother`s grave so he assumed it was the mother and everyone else just went with that. Would you care about getting every detail right if you knew the Son of Satan walked the Earth and the World as we knew it was coming to an end? Probably not.
