My mom lived off of Rampart in the 50's. She would take us to that location as kids. Right before moving to Idaho 16 years ago I took my boys , ages 3 and 6 at the time, to Tommy's. I dream of that place to this day. Now we grow the french fries. Thanks for taking me there with you.

I was born and raised in the apartments a few yards south of the original shack. Funny story, my mom couldn't stand the smell of the chilli when I was still a "bun in the oven" but I LOVE it! A true LA landmark that I hope lasts for generations to come. Great series Adam, keep it up!

In the 70s they did not give you a number because as soon as you blurted out your order it was ready, they did not serve fries only potato chips and they only sold can sodas.

I remember the first time going to that original Tommy's location. After a Carlos Santana concert at the Greek Theatre, I was hungry for a Burger and my Dad took me to this Tommy's. It was very packed that night plus it was a Saturday so obviously it was busy. I've been back there dozens of times but I'll always remember that first time going there. Great vlog Adam.

I remember when I was about 9 or 10 my dad driving the family there for the first time from where we lived in the Valley. I was too young to appreciate the chili. McDonald's or Jack-in-the-Box I thought was better. My tastes have since changed. You just decided for me about where I should dine this weekend. Tommy's in Van Nuys (closer to where I now live) I'm having a craving for.

Wow! How cool! We used to make “Tommy’s Runs” to Beverly and Rampart in the 1970s in college. I haven’t been back to LA in decades. Tommy’s looks exactly the same, and I swear I could taste that double chili burger you got! Fantastic job, Adam!

I was born right around the corner from this place 50 years ago. Rampart is very run down now. So many derelict apartment buildings that look like they must have been beautiful in the 20s and 30s.

Me too. We were students at UCLA in the mid 70s and would make Tommy runs at the end of a long night studying. Or after we drank to much lol. Our go to guy at Tommy’s who was hilarious was Frenchy. Brings back great memories. I live on the east coast for the last 40 years and would sometime dreams of their chili cheese burgers. Doubt if I’ll ever visit LA again but if I did Tommy’s would be on the top of my list.

Tommy's!!!! The very best. I drove around with a friend years ago when they started franchising the place all over California. Some forty stores all with the shack in the sign. Alas, not one of them tastes as good as the Rampart location. Worth every penny day or night. even 4am when you think no one is around there is a line at Tommy's.
