You ladies should really have protection I suggest the Umarex HDR50 which is a Co2 gun that fires 50 caliber rounds. Combined with pepper spray and a nice blade it's a bit better than a stun gun just need to get in practice target shooting, and that's only if you're not comfortable with actual guns.

I think Marrisa Tomei's character legitimately thought purging might have social benefits. She expected poor people would want to purge the most, maybe because they're under the most stress so would hypothetically see the most benefit from it?, but was willing to accept she was wrong about that when not a lot of people were purging.

I think the central point was that the Purge was conceived by Tomei's character as a way for people to release their aggression and reduce crime. However, the NFFA had a political and monetary hidden agenda. That's why she was shocked with her exposition dump about the government wanting impoverished people gone so they're no longer on government assistance.

I liked this one, but... this is kind of the perfect prequel example. There really isnt a character arc, Tomei i feel was the only learning from the actions. But we all know that no matter what, it goes nationwide and is highly accepted. The Forever Purge is just a step up from this

Lot of people like this movie less than the others and i never knew why tbh. But your little interventions throughout the movie make me understand better ngl. Like its actually true that Purge Daddy is less engaging than the other one we got. Which make it hard to find a character we can root for 100%. To me the woman who "create" the Purge program being against what the NFFA made sens, but i can understand why some might be like "wth why she act like this suddenly?!" From my pov she genuinely believes she had the brightest idea ever to make people "happier". She actually believed that giving them a day of release would compensate all the others bad days of the year. Noticed how when she realised that people weren't participating she wasn't mad about it, just surprised. She accepted that her project didn't work as plan. Which is why she was shocked when she discovered the NFFA manipulation. They are the bad BAD guys while she was more of a grey kind of person imo.

I think they stayed in a certain part of Staten Island for obvious reasons, and probably the more stereotypical characters you would think to see on the Island probably either left for the night or were left alone because they weren't the targeted individuals the government wanted.

It's a great environment at any case because it limits movement for everyone and shows the main characters can get their asses kicked as well in many instances. =Þ

I think the Doctor's reaction to the whole thing more or less makes sense. The experiment was proving to be a failure, which she was more or less fine with, maybe a bit surprised. But the NFFA proceeded to force the results they wanted which completely goes against what this entire experiment was supposed to be, at least in her eyes. The whole point was to see what the public would do, but by having mercenaries come in, that taints the entire experiment She's still awful for even helping concoct this, but I don't think her stance against what the NFFA were doing necessarily contradicts anything about her character.

During the early years of Christianity, the Roman’s used to feed them to lions and other animals in gladiator combat. Usually only arming them with stick and very basic weapons. It was mostly a death sentence. That’s what they meant by the “Christians or lions” dialogue

There is a 2 season series about the Purge - give it a watch - the first season is all about one night and different people and their stories - the second season starts off with The Purge then we follow throughout the year until the following years Purge. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Understandably, this is a weaker installment compared to the other 3 movies. "The First Purge (2018)" is also directed by a other director. The fifth movie, The Forever Purge (2021) DOES go in differernt directions with the story. BUT there are also some annoying jump scares. The Forever Purge (2021) is worth a watch though. It's also the LAST movie in the franchise.
