From the creator of Home is Where One Starts... comes The First Tree, a third-person exploration game centered around two parallel stories: a fox trying to find her missing family, and a young couple dealing with a tragedy in theirs. Players take control of the fox on a poignant and beautiful journey that crescendos at the source of life, and perhaps results in the understanding of death. Along the way, players uncover artifacts and stories from the young couple’s life as they too become intertwined in the fox’s journey towards The First Tree.

definitely going to download this game, it looks so calming. probably something I'd play if you have anxiety/panic attacks. and it's graphics are very beautiful, and the story may be tragic but lots of people could find comfort and solace in this.

This is my absolute favorite game. I don't even know if there's any flaws, i was too enthralled in the game while playing. I don't know why the reviews aren't a 10 out of 10. Amazing story. Amazing graphics. I think I cried a few times. The environment and sounds were so realistic. The story is one of the best.

I bought it because I had it on my wishlists for a year and it was on sale on the Switch. Loved it. Even if it’s pretty short it is still a really emotional game. I especially loved the ending messages that can be personalized. Mine made me cry because it was about going forward even if you feel like your life is not going well. Love you guys 💗

I recommend playing this game as I have played of it. For it's price, I think it's way over the price it sells for because the story that the siblings tell further through the story is incredibly beautiful but sad. *Spoilers but the story:* Joseph (The brother) makes moaning sounds of this dream and so Rachel (The sister) heard him. He explains the dream he had but this dream was like his life. You saw the first cub dead (3 cubs in total, she has), The beginning of his interesting life. I think that was the curious part. He goes further in the more you do about his good moments and bad moments. The 2nd cub was also dead. this was the middle, the sad times he is going through. There was a black wolf standing a distance away from the 2nd cub. I think that is the bad choices he makes. The mother fox then knows that the 3rd fox has to be at the first tree. That's when he has Rachel to comfort him and to let his Brother know, that she will always be beside him. The mother fox then arrives at the first tree hoping her 3rd cub will be okay. She then finds her 3rd cub dead. the ending of Joseph's childhood and the beginning of his adulthood. As the cub is gone, there stands the black wolf. His bad choices of life. It runs away and the mother fox approaches the first tree (It's GIGANTIC). "The First Tree awakens, and gently asks if there is one last message the fox wants to tell her children. She replies back and says:". That part was the player's choice to write but the whole game was influencing Joseph's story so the player can think about how hard people go through life.

Good visual design and intriguing story elements, but that narration is pretty sophomoric. Tone that down a bit and let the game speak for itself. I can tell just fine that the fox lost its cub and is now on a journey for some kind of hope/redemption without some disembodied couple that I care nothing for trying to relate themselves to this fox dream. My advice, drop the couple and all dialogue for that matter. Let the fox be the sole focus, because this game looks very promising, but its simple story can be effective without cramming its poignancy down our throats. I could imagine this game working well taking some inspiration from Journey. You're just placed in the world in this role of the fox after losing its cub, and you don't know what to do, but there is a place in mind that you are driven to reach. Much in the way Journey showed you the mountain at the very beginning, and you just knew that you had to reach the top of it because it was implied to be the final destination.
