It's been awhile since I've had to buy or build a new PC. I love the compact design of the mini PCs, but wish they had more GPU performance. In your video, you mentioned running an external graphics card via USB 4. Any thoughts about doing a best of eGPUs in order to compliment this video for those of us looking to do a mini PC + eGPU setup?

For general use, defined as not gaming and not producing 4K video, I can't bog down either the M1 chip in the MacBook, or the Ryzen 4600G on the desktop. That class of CPU and GPU is fine. 16 GB RAM still fine. 512 GB storage is fine if you also have a home server to stash the no longer current files, and also a second drive for TimeMachine/Timeshift. What I do need is that second drive, one Ethernet port, and as many USB ports as possible. One Display port and one HDMI is also nice. The MacBook does not have a second internal drive and requires more fussing with backups than I would like.

@teksyndicate Kind of is but didn't want to have to upgrade for a very long time. This will be my firewall for a long time and or until it dies on me. Performance has been awesome and I've been able to expand out my network more now rather than just have a boring consumer grade router

If I had a mini pc I'd use it for emulation gaming\as a small living room pc even though tv's are becoming like a pc these days or an alternative to a laptop or like a external upgrade for a laptop I'm curious to how powerful these get and would water cooling fix these if they get really super hot I find these thing super interesting

I genuinely think that if you have space somewhere in the house, normal used PCs give you WAY more performance as a home server

Excellent video. QUESTION??? I am looking at replacing my Tower I7 Win 10 with a mini PC. I primarily use my PC for business apps, video games, movies, etc... I'm concerned about heat. My current PC is on 24/7/365. I've heard that these mini PCs cannot be run 24/7/365. The internal fans will not support this. Please advise. Also, I would like to run TWO (2) 2 TB SSD drives. Either 16GB or 32GB of memory will be okay. My present tower does not support Win 11. My plan is to install Win 10 on this new mini PC. Clone my existing drives (C & D) onto the Mini PC. Then upgrade to Win 11 Pro. Why the cloning?? -- so I can keep all my existing applications and data without re-installing dozens of applications. Thank you.

Excluding gaming, the base M4 Mac Mini is an excellent option. Otherwise, Geekom A8 and BeeLink SER7 for personal use. Ports, Radeon 780M iGPU, and good CPU for multi-core performance. Honorable mention: Intel NUC 13 Pro for general office use at finance/insurance companies.

Yeah. Considering these prices unless they are on a major sale. I would still get the m4 Mac mini. Still better in artist stuff. Still can game. Way more fast usb 4 ports. $600 or less. I know it’s not included in the top 5 best mini pc’s. I can still install Linux if I wanted to. The base model is still faster than any of the these choices. The external gpu is the only thing that would entice me to buy one of those. Unless I want a cheap media machine. I think there is one not listed on here either. That does a good job. You’re still a slave to hardware where ever it’s from. You still have to pay for it.
@mikespangler98Ай бұрын
If you are doing video production you are right. If not, well, boosting the RAM to 32 GB and the SSD to one TB means the M4 is now much more expensive than any of these.

Having the title state, “The Five BEST Mini PCs of 2024 - Gaming, Productivity, Servers, Budget, Etc.” and not even mention the new Mac Mini is a bit disingenuous in my opinion. If the title was “My Five FAVORITE Mini PCs of 2024...” sure. Just because someone doesn’t like something doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
