Apparently the holy spirit isn't an authority

The bible can't be an authority. To make such a claim is to fall into a categorical error in logic between Mechanism and Agency. Only an agent can be an authority. An authority can make decisions and wield power. Now the bible can be 'authoritative', but any authoritative work necessarily depends upon an interpreter. Any appeal to scripture is an appeal to an interpretation of scripture. This naturally begs the question, whose interpretation? On another topic, it is an objective and verifiable fact of christian history that Catholics don't teach works save. Everytime a minister (normally reformed) makes this claim they discredit themselves since, once again, it is an objective and verifiable fact of Christian History that the Catholic church has always taught that we are saved by grace through faith.

" Despite Christ's promise that it'll never Fall to hell's gates & will be guided into All Truth by the Holy Ghost. If the church was heretical pre-reformation = Christ's Promise is false = & that disproves Christianity" I say it in a similar way. If the church immediately started teaching a lie then the church was doing the work of the father of lies. If the church was doing the work of the father of lies then the church was prevailed against. If the church was prevailed against then Jesus was either mistaken or a liar. In either case, it means Christianity is false and we should all renounce our faith. Are you Catholic or Orthodox?

Tyson Guess are you familiar with Augustine's "city of God"? Well what if there is visible church and an invisible church, and the invisible church are true disciples of Jesus, some of which are part of the visible church. but not all if those Christians in the visible church pre-reformation (erroneous Roman Catholic System). if that is the case then the gates of hell never prevailed over God's invisible church, so much so that it came to surface at the time of Reformation. by the way the time of captivity (time on the wilderness) of God's people was prophesied in Scripture. Revelation 12 and in the book of Daniel.

Tyson Guess if I was Catholic I would reply with the words of Jesus "21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22 Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many [a]miracles?’23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’ meaning there are many members of the Catholic church and of Protestantism that are obedient to the will of God, those are the church over which the gates of hell did not prevail. the disobedient nominal Christians who do not do the will of God are not consider by Jesus Himself part of His church. that is the reason he tells them I never knew you!
