This guy explained these rites very well. I was very impressed. I don't think many of the audience really appreciated or grasped the beneficial affect doing these has on the mind and body, the silly presenter didn't help, thought he was a funny guy........but hey at least the guy tried to help them.

As far as tempo and speed of performance, it greatly depends on your individual unique body rhythm and system. Some go fast and some go slow. Spinning fast for myself grasps qi from my surroundings and stores it in my astral interior, much like the charging belt from the engine rapidly spun to revitalize and store volts of energy in the car’s 12 volt battery system. For myself, I changed the order of the five rights. The original book said there was an advantage to this order but any order is still okay. They are powerful but try never to miss a day. Just think of it like eating. You seldom miss a day eating food. These clean out old stagnant energy patterns in your energy field

I have most trouble with #4. I feel like I need blocks or something under my hands. Maybe my arms are too short! I found these many decades ago and practiced them now and then, but when i was younger they didn't feel like "serious" exercise. Now I'm 70 and I've started again, and I can really see how much I need them.
@chriskilham
@chriskilham 9 ай бұрын
#4 is probably the hardest for most people. And yes arm length can make a difference. If you can, practice in the first position of #4, pushing your butt up off the ground. Try not to drag. Slow practice of thismayhelp you to achib=ve it more easily. Best to you.

Me too moze, but I started around 1986ish when I read the Peter Kelder book. The 5th one seems to really help with my T-11 compressed vertebrae injury! I've had that since Dec. 20th, 1996. They are amazing exercises that help me be sickness free since 1986! (I'm also 37 years vegan). I started with 21 reps, but have been doing 24 reps for about a year now. (I do 50 reps spinning).

I did these exercices for years (9 repetitions only in place of 21 because it was so painful for my neck and upper back). I eventually had to stop because of that constant day-long neck pain. I've resumed a few weeks ago but not bending my neck anymore in 2,3 and 4. And I get only the energy, not the neck pain, and feel I can soon make more. But it's not really the rites anymore.... Any piece of advice would be welcome.

Funny most of the people advocating five Tibetan rites forget that in fourth rite at the top of the body one has to SQEEZE the body. I don’t see anyone talking about it.

Hi- Peter Kelder introduced these in 1935 and mentions no such thing. If we are going to practice correctly then his directions are the best we have. Anything additional is somebody else's idea. Take care.

Actually, I have the only anatomically correct drawings from Peter Keller, not the stick figures everyone uses. In the 5th Tibetan, legs are apart, you remain up on balls of feet the whole time. It is not downward dog at all. If we are going to practice correctly, then Kelder's original drawings are what we have to go by. In other words we followed the originals to the letter.

@@chriskilham Ah, I stand corrected. You’re right. I just checked the Keller illustrations and realize that I’ve been doing this incorrectly for a long time now! I was taught years ago (in Asia, by a master) to keep feet flat. Thank you for your comment and correction!

Thank you Chris. I’ve debated the lady, her name escapes me, from Australia I believe, that sells a teacher training course on the Rites. Of course she’s a yoga teacher so she says it was just due to Kelder being inflexible. She also didn’t know the kidney point is in the middle of the foot and I tried to explain to her that it was stretching/activating that point by keeping the heel up. She also “regulates” the wiki page and there’s zero mention of you. Smh. 🙏🏻

Thankfully my Five Tibetans is in 28 languages, so the correct way as described by Kelley is getting out there. I named the Five Rites of rejuvenation The Five Tibetans. It's all good, transmission of teachings that benefit many. I yearn for no turf, just passing on some amazing wisdom.It's pure grace that I wound up knowing these. I have practiced The Five Tibetans daily for 45 years and believe that they really do enhance overall vitality and energy. Blessings.@@m.b.593

@@chriskilhamI do have to ask why you don’t tense the body in Rites 4 and 5? I’ve never seen anyone mention this and I started to think I made it up myself having not read Kelder’s book in 30 yrs but I just got a copy and it does indeed say to tense the body in the upward table top position of Rite 4 and again briefly at the top and bottom positions of Rite 5. Thanks for replying Chris. 🙏🏻

There are medical explanations for each pose. If you don't like the Buddhist interpretation of the chakra balancing, know that there are also medical explanations for these areas (the endocrine system). I'm a Christian and I believe all truth is God's truth. And God loves Buddhists just as much.
