Good grief people. Although everyone has a right to their own opinion, can't you just say THANKS for sharing the idea? If you were going to comment 'just buy one', why are you watching a DIY option for a mount? This is good in a pinch for those who need to travel last minute for work. But it sounds like most folk here probably don't travel for work and don't know how difficult it can be when the adhesive no longer works in multiple rental cars or the air vents are different in each one, and better yet when you're just trying to return the rental car and book it to the terminal to catch your flight and forget your mount. Yeah, a $5 mount is nothing when it's just in your personal car and stationary. Try moving it to multiple cars and maybe forgetting it a few times, it'll add up with re-purchase. Just say thanks people.

If my dad sent me to the tool box for a wrench and I came back with PLIERS, like this guy has, I’d be slapped into next week. Sheeesh!!! Obviously this guy is an office jockey. None the less it’s a pretty good idea!! Thanks!!

AWESOME! 👏🏽 my dad was planning on buying one of these holders, but then I sent him this video and now he’s REALLY considering to do it. He changed his mind really quickly 😂😂

You can also place a microfiber towel or paper towel when bending the clip arms to avoid scuffing the rubberized coating off of the arms. This is an awesome idea!! And I love the last comment in the video, “I practically stole all the materials..”. 😂😂😂

An idea if you only have regular binder clips: cut the end off some paracord and use the sleeve the cover the arms after you pull the strings out

We spend a lot of money for these cars...why don't the car industry come with a universal mount on side of the windshield..or somewhere..cellphone is part of our daily life..it should have a proper wireless charging and place where we can use it as a GPS.

Honestly? This is a great, practical one. Sure, it doesn't look so fancy, but come on, it's function over looks, okay? Yes, you want an expensive, high tech one, just buy one. But I had the best result with the simple, spring action, insert in the vent type and now I just can't find one in stores anymore. The ones with suction cup are ridiculously expensive or simply defective, and the last vent-insert with a similar grip to suction cups, just CRACKED! So, I'm looking for a DIY solution and other than fabricating it myself with PVC, this one is the most practical one!

lmao. how big is the clip? I went to staples and got the largest clips.... which wont hold my Note. update - Ok It does fit my phone. but its hard to get enough pressure on the clip to open the clip. so that will take some wrestling.
