@@demolition2n3 Generally speaking ranged units is the answer 11, it's kinda hard to mass them in a 1v1 or an open team game even with trade. I think the best idea is to trade them cost effectively like putting halbs in front, arbs in the back maybe? Do use any elephants or cav tho! Towers and Castles do a good deal of damage to them too.

@@CulturedFishWaifu yeah halb arb i would guess, no bonus dmg, so you waste a lot of camels on halbs. going full cavalry comp (with SO) vs flaming camels and gurjara camels and shwarma riders.. does not seem the best 11

This probably isn't high on your list of priorities with Hidden Cup about to start, but the most important aspect of these settings was that it was TURBO! I very much doubt you have much experience with turbo mode; you might not even know the details. Everything builds and trains 2.5x faster except for eco units, castles, and towers (and according to the wiki. wonders). Villagers work and carry 2.5x, trade carts 2x. This doesn't just mean "everything happens faster". It means the value of time is different, for different units and actions. For one thing, it means garrisoning villagers in a TC to shoot military is much worse than normal, but that wasn't a factor in this game. It still makes it much harder for military that is fighting military to be effective given the opportunity cost of not having eco in that population slot. Anyway, point 1: buildings except for castles and towers are built much faster, and units are trained much faster. In a normal DM game, you probably couldn't afford to open with even one castle, let alone four, because you need military units in 30~50 seconds, not in 200 seconds. In Turbo, the potential advantage is much, much bigger. Even opening with castles, you had a huge military spike over your opponents, but in those critical moments (and not knowing what your opponents were doing) you stalled out and did no damage. Imagine if you had opened siege workshop and some other buildings and were cutting the forest 1 minute after the game started, with 30 military units to follow up. Point 2: the effectiveness of a military unit. Normal game: a knight costs 135 resources, which takes about 4.5 minutes for a villager to gather. A knight kills another knight in 27 seconds, so it's much better to have two knights than one knight and one villager. Turbo mode: now only 1.8 minutes to gather resources for a knight. If your two knights spend more than 2 minutes running around before they start to fight, it's a waste of a population slot! Forward production is paramount. To put it another way: 1v1, if you have 100 population locked up in Mangudai, in a normal game you would need to kill 25 flaming camels per minute without taking any losses of your own to justify them. (4 villager-minutes per flaming camel, 100/4=25.) In Turbo, you need to kill 62 flaming camels per minute with those Mangudai. 1v2, you have to kill 125 flaming camels per minute with those Mangudai without taking any damage. (*this is assuming enemy produces flaming camels instantly with just 1 population slot, with 99 eco units.) Serious fighting lasted around 30 minutes and you killed 2k units, around 70 per minute. At this rate, you would have crushed in a normal game. But this was Turbo.

There is nothing hera could have done to counter them, maybe could have tried massing scorpions.. also forgot to use 5000 stone for a long time but it doesn't matter at all. They made trenches with bbt so he couldn't push them but.. BUT I know what gurjaras could have done better - I countered mongols many times with gurjaras. I would enlarge the choke point with onagers to make it very wide to have full mobility as gurjaras, so then hera couldn't have any choke advantage with S.O., then mass Only shrivamsha riders basically like goths but with stables and just keep spamming shrivamsha only. Their shield initially protects them also from siege onager shot in addition to arrows so when they are massed, they would hard counter mangudai + SO combo. Maaan.. Fun to watch, will definitely try tatars again, they are so fun vs Persians 🤘

Alhamdulilah most of my extended family is in jordan, still very sad and always keeping the people of palestine in my prayers though. I thought about playing with palestinian flag but it would just bring alot of negative and toxic comments from random internet people and i dont wanna deal with that. They overboom and then delete vils after the fact. It looked like the Tatars player was mainly making units in the early game and the Gurjaras player was slinging, building fortifications, and adding a little support here and there. Hera was fine when he was mainly fighting against Tatars 1v1. Eventually, though, the Gurjaras player was adding a bunch of production with gunpowder, and that overwhelmed Hera in the end.

Yes can confirm, I too spammed flaming camel on a michi map on a 4v4 rank just for fun and my camels got destroyed by scorpions due to pass thru damage but other than that was able to hold opponent back

isn't Halb onager a better comp here? Obviously can't stay on it long term, would need other units mixed in with chakrams and their own CA as an option. Just confused why he stays on Mangudai so long and doesn't go with forward barracks and halb, then maybe tower push to support, flaming camels wouldn't get bonus damage against halbs. (Edit, oh nvm 200 bonus against buildings, so no to towers I guess)

Mongols=weak infantry and no bombard towers. Mongols BB est comp is Siege onager, Mangadai, camels. In this case Scorpion ram Mangadai would have been strong.
