I never liked the concept of a multiverse for 3 reasons: 1. It makes things way too confusing. 2. It expands the scope of the setting so much that the stuff we can focus on seems insignificant. 3. The existence of alternate Earths and alternate versions of yourself makes your actions and choices seem insignificant.

Barry tries to go back in time to save his mother only to find out the world gets screwed up beyond all reckoning and that she HAS to stay dead for the good of everyone. Knowing he has the power to change time itself, but can't use it to save his mom is a cross he has to bear, and it has a deep impact.

The original Flashpoint features an enemy that has great relevance to Barry Allen, Zoom, and the character arc for Barry is fantastic. The interesting part about this whole concept, is the fact the animated version flashpoint paradox... Just completely outstanding. all DC needed to take that animated movie and turn it into live action. Script was unbelievably solid following the comic book and the take on Thomas Wayne was dark but brilliant. Everyone wanted to see zoom and that was also not in this terrible version. All DC had to do was adopt the script of the animated movie "Flashpoint Paradox" into live-action. It's that simple. The story-telling in the animated movie is already solid. Introducing Reverse Flash as the antagonist would also be a much better option than Zod, it's a Flash movie, not a Superman movie. They could've even casted Keaton as Thomas Wayne and not worry about that Keaton is perhaps on the older side, to say the least, to play Bruce Wayne. And the letter from Thomas to Bruce at the end of the movie? It's enough to make grown--ups cry! Seriously DC/ WB need to stop trying to reinvent the wheel.

There is a point to say that while the CGI and stunt men let Keaton fight better than he "could have" in Burton's film; Burton's film was also made the way it was to exemplify The Batman. What I mean is, there's a concerted difference that has been noted and is very intentional, between Bruce and Dick. In both armor preference and general fighting styles. One has lighter armor and a more acrobatic, higher risk fighting style that works for him because of his training as a tightrope walker in the circus. He uses Escrima sticks as his favored weapons, where Bruce is more a straight up hand to hand brawler. One could argue the stick based fighting style actually lets Dick be less focused, and go at it faster. Especially since he does not quite have Bruce's raw bulk. Where Bruce has to be focused and precise with each strike. He's depending on the heavy weight of his armor to add damage to his strikes and has to know he'll hit exactly where he wants. The sticks do most of the damage in velocity as well as adding a defensive point that means Dick can be less absolutely perfect with his guard, and has more leeway with raw damage output, by muscle alone. Bruce's armor is more The Samurai Vs. Ninja which would be more Nightwing's take. His is meant to guard against the beating that Dick doesn't want to endure. It's the same thing as some knights preferred chainmail to plate. Sometimes that was about what they could afford themselves to upkeep in cost, but a good chunk was weight concern vs. protection offered, and personal endurance on the field. [Not saying he couldn't, but he's more mobile, so dodging is more his style than Bruce's stand my ground against all comers attitude] That said, there's a reason that both heroes are consistently ranked in DC's top martial artists. Neither is a bad fighter in the least, but I'd argue the CGI version of Batman like you see is probably closer to Dick's actual style overall. Long winded way of saying: Keaton really wasn't SUPPOSED to move much. Even against the technical limitations, his movements as a fighter were what they were meant to be, for the character at the time. The times have changed and the style of "action" has evolved to be splashier and more frenetic, but that doesn't mean Keaton as he was did anything wrong in the classic Batman. Burton made the best with what he had, and the lore did support his vision at the time.

Of course they use the likes of Keaton to shill out for this dreadful steaming pile of turgid nonsense. The marketing departments long caught to the fact that modern fandom is more interested in 'brands' like Star Wars, Star Trek, Batman than actual movie craft. Take Star Wars and Indy. The original trilogy came at a particular time and place, and was a zeitgeist series of movies, coming shortly after Vietnam and the Oil Crisis, stagflation, social and political upheaval right as we enter the peak Cold War. People needed escapism, especially after a run of bleak movies like Soylent Green, All the Presidents Men, Klute, so Star War and Indy took film making back to the Golden Era of Hollywood. But, by the time we get to Jedi, while the idea of kids making there own movies with action figures is a nice one, we then get the Ewoks, and the birth of 'product' rather than art. Fast forward to the prequals and sequels, there is nothing but 'product', now cynically guised under a 'progressive' banner today. Sadly kids today don't have their Star Wars or Indy or Back to the Future because I am afraid to say that my generation, who saw Star Wars in 1977, never gave up their toys. Kids are now just the next on the conveyor belt of 'consumers'. Then we wander why young people are film illiterate, because today we need seven series of the same box set in order to have 'character development', or nihilistic about the world because there are no genuine hero's with few exceptions, male or female, anymore. When you have nothing to believe in, no stakes in society, and no virtue to uphold, you end up with the prolefeed we get, crooks like Trump, Biden, AOC and Sanders reaching the top, and cults like MAGA, BLM, ANTIFA or Proud Boys, who look and sound the same, at least to my ears dominating the social discourse.

In her interviews she mentioned when she met Henry Cavill she asks him "Did I make you proud?", talks about just playing a good character, living up to the standards set by the character and just doing a good job. Zero pandering to the woke. Just because of that I actually hope to see her continue the role and would like to see a Supergirl movie. Not to mention she looks goddamn beautiful in that suit and makes no attempt to hide the fact women have, certain features. If this was Marvel you'd already see "supergirls suit is too tight, outdated, it's objectifying women!"

Yes, but he’s also prone to bringing technology to big fights. I’m reminded of that moment in the justice league unlimited show where he just inexplicably has a bomb on the bat plane that can freeze hundreds of miles within absolute zero. His explanation is simply I had to freeze the Gotham river once. It’s one of the best Batman lines I can think of. There’s no precedent, that never happened in Batman, the animated series. It might’ve happened in one of the comic book titans, but it never happened on screen. But you very much by that at some point Batman had to freeze the entire Gotham river. Why? Probably the joker, maybe scarecrow, maybe something completely different, but the man had to freeze the river, and he had a bomb to do it. And then he made another bomb and kept it on the back plane just in case you needed to freeze something else. In modern society, being the strategist means having some really fun toys to play with. And Bruce Wayne can afford some pretty fun toys.

But the current movie has 2 problems: first is the actor’s off-screen behavior, which legitimately ought to be a factor in people’s decision whether to support the movie or not. Second, though, is the Zoidberg effect (Or the Dory effect or the Mater effect, if you prefer). There are secondary characters who don’t have a lot of lines, so most of them can be awesome one-liners. Then you slot them as the main character where they’re carrying most of the dialog… and suddenly they get really tedious. And on top of that, they made two of him for this movie. At least when Zoidberg got tedious it was just a 23 minute show. Dory and Mater ground on through full length movies.

The way Batman works in this kind of scenario was epitomized in Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. Instead of joining the fight against Darkseid directly, he discovered a strategic advantage over him, and simply compelled him to stand down without facing him in combat. But of course the DCU seems allergic to Darkseid.

As you say, Batman can absolutely work in Justice League or team-up stories as a strategist and tactician. _Superman/Batman: Apocalypse_ is a based on a story from the Superman/Batman comic. There are tons of other stories in the comics that the movie writers can look at to see how to make Batman work in a setting outside Gotham. The DCEU doesn't just seem allergic to Darkseid; it seems allergic to adapting stories from the comics at all. It's stupid to have decades and decades worth of stories to take as inspiration and not use any of it.

Nice video, i agree with alot of what you said, for me there were really specific things in this that just destroyed it in my opinion. First off, The running, if anything stops, the awkward running and posing and talking should be first, Barry is not everyone's favorite, but he had confidence, the one i watched anyway from the Justice League animated series, which i can only assume was close to the comics flash, was a bit like Spiderman in confidence and comedy, i usually tell myself that it's an AU (alternate universe) version like i do with Iris West, but there are limits damnit. Secondly, when Flash changed history, all he changed was the timespan from his childhood forward, around the same time Batman would lose his parents, Superman was learning to deal with his powers, Aquaman was being taught his, Wonder woman would be living in the world of man etc etc, i get some alteration would occur, but these made no sense save for Cyborg, somewhat. Third, i kind of expected Michael Keaton to play Thomas Wayne, not only because he's older, but because i expected the events of flashpoint paradox to some degree, however Bruce Wayne's difference in appearance is due to Barry's mother's survival ?, how the hell did that alter Bruce's appearance and age so drastically when he was already born by this time, same thing with Clooney. Fourth, Super girl (who for AU reasons has short black hair now,) was going off the events of Flashpoint paradox as well save for the fact that SHE landed in Siberia instead of wherever the hell she landed in the original timeline, now the real issue is Clark didn't even land on earth,... because Flash, a human, on earth, effected the timeline, on earth, AFTER superman had already landed, because when Barry first got his powers it was a little afterwards that Zod attacked going by the movies own words, meaning Superman and Flash where around the same age give or take, So Barry's time alteration affected the timeline somehow before the point of interference; So somehow super girl landed on earth, Clark who was already living in Kansas, never made it... Bruce's entire age and appearance were altered despite already being born and around the same age, Arthur, already been born, blipped out of existence i guess ?, Diana probably decided to go home (don't blame her), all because Barry touched a can of tomatoes on earth, all im saying is if you are an up and coming writer/director reading this, pay attention when writing a story, it helps, the audience appreciates it. Fifth, Of course the one and only Live-action (which are overrated to hell) Flash focused movie to come out since 1992 (Far as i know) And seemingly following the events of the Flashpoint paradox, could have, introduced us to Mirror master, done a crossover with Gorilla Grodd & planet of the apes (why not), Have The Flash fight or even cooperate with Captain cold, And of course, the bane of Barry's existence, Reverse Flash, the cause of all this, ALL these options & some, and we get, Superman's enemy, Zod, who followed the exact same script just with super girl... Well then, that's my two cents, hope the read was something positive for you and i'll see you next time anonymous reader. o7 (Salute)

Remember "Call it, Captain" from _Avengers?_ Steve gets everyone doing the best job for their abilities in about two seconds, amplifying everyone's effectiveness, letting everyone know there's a plan, and that plan can work. What's funny about Barry Allen is that without having read about his comics and the few things I've seen about him (the Injustice games and Flashpoint Paradox), you expect an easy-going, chill, funny simple dude, that is clever and humble. A regular man equipped with a good mental, a sense of justice and principles, granted an awesome power that is the Speed Force. And it makes him a great figure. But it seems Warner can't see that and roll with it. He's probably one of the simpler heroes out there and they can't even do that.

Ezra Miller was cast as Barry Allen, but he was trying and failing to play Wally West.

Blame Snyder. He's the one who cast the walking shitshow known as Ezra Miller.

I mean, one of the Justice League shows had Flash encounter one of his enemies (think it was the Trickster) while he was at a bar because he needed information, and just.... sat down, talked and listened to him. Asked him about how his day was, asked about his meds, gently reminded them that they're in costume and that they needed to keep up with their meds, and just treated them as a mentally unwell individual with struggles while also getting the information that they wanted. I don't see the movie Flash having the patience, understanding, and humanity to do that.

This is not even mentioning that at the end of the movie (Spoilers) the Flash isn't even in his original dimension. Basically meaning that his dad is still stuck in a jail cell being framed for the murder of his deceased wife and his son disappeared out of fucking nowhere and never to be seen again
