Trivia: John Wesley Shipp who plays Barry's Dad in this series, was the Flash in the short-lived one-season 90s Flash show which guest-starred Mark Hamill as The Trickster and David Cassidy (Arrow's Katie Cassidy's biological dad & lead of The Partridge Family) as The Mirror Master.

The first 3 seasons are defo worth your time and i would only stay until season 5 if you like the chracters which i really did before it went downhill after this

The flash is a commitment since it's part of the arrowverse. It's like the MCU with a watch order with its own episodes and other shows due to multiple crossover events. You obviously already know about arrow, I don't know if you started but didn't finish but that lead to all the other shows even other dc comic shows not directly connected but references a lot and gets you to watch those shows which is nice to know about the connections.

Thing I love most about this show is just the bond that Barry has with Green Arrow & this show made me love Flash a lot more. The acting is great & I enjoy the writing & Grant is a good actor even tho I haven’t seen his past work & the guy playing Barry’s dad in this played the Flash in the 90’s with Mark Hamil as the Trickster

The first few seasons are incredible. Definitely worth a watch. Especially with all the crossovers and big events like Crisis on Infinite Earths. But later on the writing does get pretty awful. Not to discredit the actors. They try their best, but the writing does become something truly puzzling. You will also love Captain Cold in this series. I think it's the best adaptation of him that's ever been done.

the flash is really good but i would recommend watching the arrow first as it the flash and a few other shows are all part of the same verse.

If you are that big of a fan of the character, you will MOSTLY love the show for the first few seasons....then after that its a crap shoot on how you may feel. I personally enjoyed it more or less the whole run, but I am also not a comic book fan, so I dont have the same attachment to every character that they do. There are some characters they bring in during later seasons to offset the loss of early season regulars (every show has to do this eventually because of contracts, but how you fill those holes is what matters) that most fans are not the biggest fans of, which is why a lot of people trash the latter seasons. Also, if you are gonna do this, you should also watch Arrow, as it is where The Flash spins off from, in season 2 of Arrow.
