Another favorite was the episode with Richard Kiley (one of the last things he did before he died), which riffed on his most famous role of Don Quixote, as you were never sure if he was sane or not, but even Barry couldn't resist being drawn to him. A great tribute to a wonderful performer.

Such a shame it didn't get another season. I love the style of it and it has a likable cast of characters. Weather Wizard and Vandal Savage were going to appear had season 2 happened. I always wanted to see this Flash appear in Lois and Clark racing Superman for charity.

Also, you know they only had like 5 suits he wore throughout the whole series? John Wesley Shipp said that he remembers having the suits hanging up in his trailer & they would spray them down with lysol because they couldn't wash them & couldn't replace them cause it costed like 10,000 dollars to make the suits.

I read that while doing research for this review, and that's amazing. I suspect that the torn up suit in Fast Forward was the suit in the Pilot because they were using the "felt" suit at that point

Yeah, could very well be. I really did wish this got a second season, or at least a movie to tie things up or an animated feature or something. At least it lasted as long as it did.

Great review. I remembered watching this series when I was in high school. It was a great comic book series. I rank it among my top 3 favorite shows of comic book characters turned into TV series.

I remember really enjoying and watching the pilot episode on VHS countless times during my childhood, so it was great to know there was a whole season of it.....until I found out it wasn't (officially) available here in the UK -_- So imagine how surprised I was to find it listed on Amazon UK earlier for a July 25th release date! Soon I'll be able to fully enjoy John Wesley Shipp and Amanda Pays being on both Flash TV shows, with a good idea of what to expect thanks to your great review :D

I agree with you, Out of Control was my absolute favorite. The idea of the dr doing experimentation on the homeless was interesting. And the lighting for that episode was good. And I liked the Night shade episodes as well. The new flash reminds me of those episodes. The rest of the 90's show was campy but it was the most faithful comic show at the time. And I did like the Lois and Clark show. I thought that Dean Cain played a smart Clark, like the way that George Reeve played him in the 50's. At the time Lois and Clark was a fresh take on Superman. Great review!

a major correction that needs to addressed, Eobard Thawne/Professor Zoom/ Reverse Flash, had an massive effect on the Flash. Look up the silver age flash issues 200-350, which culminated in iris's death, barry being tried as a criminal and leading into Crisis on Infinite Earths (1985/86). the zoom you refer to is hunter zolomon, the reverse flash of wall west, and yes, you can thank geoff johns for this, the hack.

I was just saying that Zoom would look terrible in this show and I'm glad he wasn't in it. The fans of the New 52 would have jumped on my ass if I didn't mention him from that. I know he's a big villain before the New 52

I did enjoy the Flash series. Not sure why you seemed to not like Lois & Clark as much as I enjoyed it. I have both the Flash and all 4 seasons of Loid & Clark on DVD.

not really. Wesely Allen Shipp, the flash, is in REALLY good shape. Barry Allen, even Wally West while in good shape werent bulky. most runners are lean and cut. but remember, it was the suit too.

Sir you got guts. Am glad am not the only one who thinks Firefly is overrated. Don't get me wrong i like it but i don't think it's as awesome as people make it out to be. I love the Flash series. I grew up on it and always thought this was the best incarnation(even better than the comics). John Wesley really was like Bruce Cambell in this series(the glue that held the evil dead series together same way, and such a coincidence you would mention the Briscoe county jr show). Mark Hamill was spectacular and i do agree he was the highlight of his episodes. Was too bad it came out during the Gulf war. Or else i think it would've gone for atleast 2 more seasons. I could've totally seen Flash crossover with the lois and clark show aswell as Swamp thing. Perhaps the Justice league of america would've been a reality by then.

***** Oh, not that one. I remember there is some visual homage at some point. I think it might be a mercury imagery though (which is what Jay pays homage to with that helmet). Maybe a statue, or a bust. But I can't put my finger on that one. It is a very faded memory I have.
