Personally I want to thank you for taking the time to put this video out. I don't even want to think about my controller and iPad laying on the ground because of a defective buckle. Again, THANK YOU!

This saved me. Getting my UAV license, and was looking into DJI drones. Faulty accessory will be a big deal since they're the stuff you're facing with each time you leave the house to fly.

they include a big screwdriver for that screw. maybe a bit of blue thread lock would be good.

Mine was missing some parts. DJI acknowledged the defects they sent me. I have to send all this stuff back, but I'm waiting after the Chinese New Year.
@moeranyc9 жыл бұрын
DJI is aware of the situation. I sent in an RMA, since I have posted the video, their response time however is pretty slow. The holder is definitely a problem. An aftermarket would be great. Let's make our own, market them, and cash in on the profits!
@TheSecretVault8 жыл бұрын
DJI support is almost non existent you should say. They just dont want to hear from anyone. This is why a lot of UK dealers have walked away from them completely.

One of my case zippers broke within a week. It would get stuck on the bottom corner and I didn't want to forcefully open it, so it would open on its own as I opened the case. Now its useless. Luckily it has 2 zippers.

Take extra care of that zipper!

I agree that the case is not fantastic but I was surprised that the Inspire 1 shipped with a case at all! So far my case has been fine. Good tip about the device holder! I suggest that everyone should unscrew the small screw in question and apply a drop of threadlock (available from any model helicopter shop). This should sort that problem out.
@moeranyc10 жыл бұрын
This came as a pleasant surprise for me too. I read that they planned to do that all along on the forums afterwards, so some people knew about it beforehand. The device holder really is the biggest problem in my opinion. I am sure they did quality assurance, but I don't feel like this use case had ever occurred, or at least the likelihood of this use case would ever occur to most users in their opinion. However, it did happen to me twice, and a few other pilots contacted me with the same issues. Threadlock is a great idea. Thanks for the tip.

Hate to burst your bubble but I am an authorized dealer for DJI and when any repairs of this kind are performed, lock-tight is mandated in the repair process. Btw, putting lock-tight on the mobile device holder mount screw would not by any means void your warranty. I have built over 600 DJI octocopters like the s1000+ and every bolt in it as well as the Inspire where recommended has lock tight throughout the machine.
@moeranyc9 жыл бұрын
+FlyHighUSA You're not bursting my bubble in any way. The Support Techs on their official website and in Carson, CA are the ones who said this specifically. Either way, this was in February of this year, and I understand a lot can change, but this is the information given during that time. I appreciate your credentials, but once again, info given to me from DJI themselves. Feel free to dip it in locktight all over.

locktight?????
@moeranyc9 жыл бұрын
+FlyHighUSA Sure. Unfortunately DJI does not recommend you add locktight to any of the products. We made this video back in February, and this was their stance back then. Any locktight added will void warranty is what they said. So theres that.
@TheJmurray11099 жыл бұрын
All screws going into metal should always checked for thread lock before a maiden flight on any helicopter. It is dangerous not to do so.

dji cases are high quality shipping containers NOT drone carry cases. a quality case would add $700 to the price of the drone

1. Fix the case. It's a hobby. 2. Go to your LHS and buy a new neckstrap. 3. Find a set screw and use a smaller ipad...you're probably overloading the bracket. silly complaints.

+Moera Creative You are so right. People in general expect something to work as designed. Accessories coming directly from the company that makes these Quads should be of the same quality as the Inspire model itself.

@Bobster98610 жыл бұрын
oh. ok. I thought you were going to just let them get away with an apology and not replace what you paid for. I have watched may videos here and most people just except it as their own fault for buying it in the first place and never do anything about it. I hate it when big corporations get away with shoot produces, then tell the consumer that it's their own fault when it breaks. Good for you, keep DJI on their toes, there is no excuse when your paying over $3000.00 for a quadcopter and they cut corners just to save a buck.

do you really need an ipad? why stop there just mount a 40" lcd tv to your controller.LOL

+Emilio D'Andrea If you look at almost every video put out by DJI in regards to the Inspire 1, they are using the iPad Air. So yes, this is the size they are promoting. Why not use what they say the controller can handle?
