He was one nice man. He was a client of one of partners of my father’s law firm. My mom used to make a scratch made chocolate chip cake. It was his favorite followed by home made beignets. I would get 2 Barbie dolls from him every Christmas. One to play with and one to collect. When I grew older I also got 2 signed copies of his albums and singles. One to listen to and one to collect. *Mr. Myers told me to work so hard until my bank account looked like telephone numbers.* He was smart, generous as well as talented. I only met him in person a handful of times but his advice and gifts are cherished.

What a coincidence. My mother called me Heavy D jokingly when I was young, after I started being called Justin D in school but also alluding to my similarities with him as far as being a chubby lil boy loving to dance. I always dug his demeanor, and now that I'm grown, I see it resonates with me more than ever. Even had been listening to one of his albums so years back that got me through one of my hardest times in life. I was turned 29 in June of 2011, and had a similar incident, at home alone, and I told myself if I go down, no one would be there o find me so I forced myself to open my doors in case something happened. Went to the hospital but they neglected me and did no tests, sending me home with steroids. 20 days later I was hospitalized only using 10% of my left lung to the same thing that killed him. Smdh. R.I.P. Heavy D!!!

Great to know he was born in my hometown and country, in the same year my first [of 4 children] daughter was born. I saw him once when I lived on Vernon Ave in Mt.Vernon, through my barber shop window alone inside, getting his hair done. There was an unusual large crowd there that day, and I didn't know who he was at the time. Didn't get my hair cut that day! 💯🇯🇲

I still keep Heavy D on my rotation, especially his Blue Funk album. Shout out to Pete Rock for making sure hip-hop fans remembered Heavy D and his contributions to hip-hop. When media publications left out Heavy D from Hip-Hop 50 articles, Pete called them out on Instagram, and from that point on, every local and national news outlet made sure they paid tribute to Heavy D. R.I.P. to Big Hev and Trouble T-Roy 🙏🏽

YES I REMEMBER WHEN THEY 1ST CAME OUT IT WAS LIKE YOU HADN'T SEEN A LARGER GUY MOVE SO EFFORTLESSLY WHILE STILL LOOKING GOOD, ENERGETIC, WELL PUT TOGETHER & HANDSOME. WHEN THE NEWS BROKE I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT HE HAD PASSED AWAY BUT THE CAUSE WAS EVEN CRAZIER. HE'S A POSITIVE LEGEND. HE'S MISSED IN THE INDUSTRY R.I.E.P MR MYERS HEAVY D { THEY'LL NEVER BE ANOTHER OVER WT LOVER IN THE HOUSE}
