This is the future for long distance travel but totally modernized. Helium lift, solar panels power large electric fans. Computer controlled with satellite weather data. Safe - Cheap - Silent - Fast.

The only problem is that the supply of helium is finite, but the uses for helium are infinite. Helium is used in MRI machines to cool down the electrical conductors, and it seems that only helium can get the conductors cold enough. Helium can only be made by fusing hydrogen atoms in a fusion reactor (or in the sun), so, filling dirigibles with helium might not be the best use for the limited supply.

@@thetooginator153 wow, my reply was deleted, here it is again. Plenty of helium deep in the earth just need the commitment to find it.

Unfortunately, Helium is expensive, airships are slow and cannot have many passengers, and need good weather to travel safely.

@@MrAlsachti Seen the price of Helium lately ? It crashed. Airship only needs to transport a family - 1 to 6 people. Airship will adjust height to avoid bad weather.

It seems like a very small cabin volume for a compliment of around 30-40 men!

There is more room inside. From outside one is only able to see the gondola portion.

@@austinformedude I know, but even looking at the few interior photos that survive it seems cramped at best. It would be cool to see a 3D reconstruction like was done with the R101 here recently.
