@🎥TV Classics & Gaming Premiers🎮 one thing never changes ..ageism.. as I type this they're talking about stealing an old ladies dress . If you have a problem with the world today just remember you created it. And now they're talking about stealing a car. And the next skit a fight . Hes beating him up for insulting his mother . What is clean about this ? 19 minutes in . This is classy to you ?? Now dancing girls ? This is trash .

Me too. It's a terrible shame that for much of today's viewers, this type of television, and variety shows is thought as not being sophisticated enough. If this is actually true, it is a very sad commentary about the state of affairs of the contemporary mind. I stopped watching TV having tossed the thing in the rubbish in 2004. I've not looked back, I've never regretted it, and I've learned more about the nature and direction of television programming without it, than I ever did with it. In those rare times I was in a situation where television couldn't be avoided, I could see just how dramatically programming had not only downgraded, but became increasingly perverted and crass. Some might consider this as "being real", but I don't. Curiously, when I bring this up to people who've never gone without TV, they can't seem to see it. I chalk that up to my having had the luxury of a perspective drawn from not having it for very long periods of times. It makes it that much easier to notice the changes.

@@datatwo7405 I haven't had TV for 15yrs (almost 60yrs old)...no regrets. I learned to appreciate reading when our family TV broke in 1979 during a Quincy, MD episode. I, too, remember Flip Wilson, Rowan & Martin, Mutual Homes, Wild Kingdom, & even Lawrence Welk. Oh...The "good old days", how I miss them. Life seemed so much more richer, calmer, more family oriented. 🫤

Just as funny as I remember. It was always a thinking person’s show. What strikes me is the length of the sketches. They would never be allowed to be played out in today’s short attention span world. Time Life has 20 of his shows available on disc. A commercial made me look for this. I was struck by the fact only Lily Tomlinson and Cher are still alive of all the guests shown on the ad. Flip left us too soon at age 64. Glad we have this to remember what a great talent he was. RIP and thanks for giving us one of the greatest characters ever: Geraldine.

Flip Wilson was ABSOLUTELY one of the funniest entertainers I ever remember seeing on TV…..I loved his show…of course, our host, Tim Conway, and Harvey Korman were one of the funniest comedy teams ever and were one of the reasons I never missed The Carol Burnet Show….and then, of course, that takes you right on to Mama’s Family with Carol, Vicki Lawrence, Harvey Korman, Rue McClanhan and Betty White which leads us non other than, “The Golden Girls”…I miss them all so much…just like for our mothers…they were so wonderful….then that takes me right on to another one of my favorites…Designing Women with 4 of the most hysterical women and a super funny, sweet black man……but In amongst them all we can’t forget Richard Pryor who was in a class by himself as was the sweet, kind, caring Red Skelton who lost his only son to blood cancer when he was only 10 years old in, I think, 1957. Most children did not survive it back then like they do today thanks to the research that has taken place at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital thanks to a wonderful man who started St. Jude’s who was more of an all around entertainer rather than only a comedian….the amazing Danny Thomas…and his smart, talented, caring daughter whom I have always admired, Ms. Marlo Thomas aka Mrs. Phil Donahue. There are many more talented comedians but these are some of the BEST that have ever been….Thanks to you ALL….you are all so appreciated and loved.

I love Clerow "Flip" Wilson Jr. He’s a talented comedian & delightful person. One of his notable accomplishments was the 4-yr running Flip Wilson Show was the second highest-rated show on network television. Flip’s show generated high ratings and popularity among viewers and won strong critical acclaim, with 11 Emmy Award nominations winning two. Wilson also won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Series. "Flip’s" Geraldine character was brilliant. Accomplishments worthy of being etched in the minds of Americans I feel his body of work has been suppressed. I welcome comments/replies as food4 thought or a springboard4 friendly discussion.

♥️ *True* *Story:* ♥️ Hello there! My name is Alisa & I'm from Indianapolis. Anyways, I am a singer/songwriter. Back in 2006, I was singing at a lounge/steak house. Flip Wilson's brother, who was a talent scout, had started showing up at these events. We started talking more & more & he would starting asking me to slow dance w/him. Then, one night, while we joined all the slow dancing couples, he asked me out. Although I was very honored he thought that highly of me, I did politely tell him I wasn't romantically interested in him. The biggest reason was b/c our age difference is nearly 60 years. However, he was simply one of the kindest people I've ever met. I often wonder if he is still living. If not, may he always RIP, along w/Flip. ♥️
