I remember hearing that the reason why there are so many "Florida Man" stories from Florida is because the state has really good disclosure laws that allow info about wild events to both be put into public record quickly and easy to look up and access. In truth plenty of states have people doing "florida man" tier escapades but for some reason in particular it's harder for people out of state to find out about those than those of the true "florida men."

I can literally make up a headline “Florida Man claims pet alligator was kidnapped by a hologram of his wife who broke up with him”. And it still would become true.

Fun fact: the reason why see this kind of stuff only in Florida is because of laws regarding publicity of crimes there. So while in Florida you would see "Florida man charged with chasing neighbor with metal bat claiming that "He was a ghost"", in somewhere like California you would see "Man charged with assault while on drugs"

When I was a kid my family used to have a condo rental in Florida near Orlando that we went to a few times, and when you get home at night all you could see were hundreds of eyes in the distance. Not sure how many where alligators and how many where Florida men in waiting now that I look back on the place.

Big pet peeve of mine having experienced plenty of hurricanes (yes I am a man from Florida), but the hurricane at 2:18 is spinning in the wrong direction. In the northern hemisphere, hurricanes spin counterclockwise. When I see one in the northern hemisphere going clockwise it always makes me cringe.

I am a descendant of thou florida man (my grandpa) I have some stories too. 1. My grandpa tackled a shark.("it wasn't that big"- grandpa) 2. THIS ONE IS VERY VERY WEIRD. He went on a walk during hurricane irma and did his business in the direction of the hurricane.(the power of the wind made IT splash back) 3.he found a venomous snake under his house, he let it be for a couple months,it had babys and went INTO the house. He picked her up (no gloves) and threw it out If you want i have more stories on this fascinating man...

There's supposed to be a real case of a little girl on her pony, riding in a tornado and being gently put down on a grassy hill... And the Pony was fine, too. The story is set in the 1950s, IIRC. ... No idea how real it is, though.
