I wouldn't say its insensitive. Just immodest. In no way is it trivalizing anything, yeah it might be goofy. But goofy ≠ trivalizing. By presenting the subject in a fictional enviromental it helps people understand what it might be like in a hyperbolic way. It seems lighthearted enough. Almost like it was made by a child/made for child. I'd ask the question that if that subject is off limits, then why do we often see other things like people dying apart of horror, like murder, isn't tasteless? You can't use arbitrary constraits on guides you impose based on your own degrees of comfort. Yes the subject is uncomfortable. But there is value of discussing it regardless of seriousness. Not everyone responds in the same way you do to stimuli, that's why its important to some to find levity in the darkest places.
