I previously felt it was ridiculous people were so mad about the red eyes, but now I’m not sure where I stand in the argument. One thing I do know my overall opinion is that I love how Jim Henson’s Creature Shop nailed the designs from game to reality. That was the only detail I really cared about. it's funny you bring that up, because something similar to that is done in the 1st game, mainly with freddy. freddy always hides in dark areas, or very far away from the cameras. the only indication he's there is the 2 white dots, which, when looking through a low quality camera, are very hard to spot. and if you aren't paying attention or don't know where to look, he could easily take you by surprise, by seemingly disappearing for a long period before reappearing much closer to your office. replace those white dots with these comedically over the top, glaringly obvious red eyes, and he can't sneak up on you. all of that surprise factor is gone.

It hurts because everything apart from the red eyes and making them expressive, everything else about their designs is dead on! I've never had the guts to play a FNAF game, but I follow the story and lore and while I wouldn't call it terrifying. There is a sense of dread, something being wrong and adult fear. I'd say these elements are when the series is at it's best, after FNAF 3 it sort of derailed. Turning the main four into "Hurr-Durr evil animatronics" kinda misses the point, at rate I might as well watch Willy's Wonderland or the Banana Splits movie. The true evil isn't the animatronics, it's Fazbear entainment, and William Afton aka Springtrap. The only EVIL animatronics we actually see in series are the Circus troop - made by Afton, Baby's possessed by his daughter, and the possessed Glamrocks in Security Breach.

Hopefully the red eyes won't be a big part of the movie and only show up in a few sections, cause this trailer does have a pretty uncanny moment, that being when the security guard pulls back the curtains on the stage, and we see the trio standing there motionless in the dark. What people don’t understand is that we don’t hate the red eyes, we are just worried about what the red eyes entail. This is going to sound like a stretch, but if you are a die hard horror fan, you will understand what I’m saying. Red eyes in horror are so generic and “cheap”. They’re usually added in a movie as a poor attempt to scare the audience. Examples of this would be the Banana Splits and Chucky (2019) movies. I sincerely hope they don’t do something dumb like making the animatronics controlled by an evil AI. Also, add the fact that this will be a PG13 movie makes us even more worried because signs are starting to point that this will be a cash grab of a movie with no passion in it. This could very likely be a disappointing, corporate, soulless attempt to make money. The producers probably figured this movie will make money regardless of quality because it’s FNAF so it’s too big to fail. This means they just won’t add a lot of passion into it since it’ll succeed regardless. Again, I’m going to hold out hope that this movie will be faithful to the lore of the games because I’ve been a fan for so long, but I cannot deny the many red flags I’m noticing for this movie.

You all been living under a rock for the past 100 years or am I missing something? 😂 They just have to edit the characters' eyes in some scenes. That's it. Is that so difficult? To me, it’s all in the execution. I see a lot of people theorizing that the red eyes are significant because william afton has taken control of the animatronics to try and get Mike and Abby, and if red eyes were really the best choice to go with for the plot of the film then that’s fine by me, *but why on gods green fuck did they make the whole eye glow?* if they had just made the pupil alone glow then it would’ve looked much better imo. One of the things I feel people don't point about the white dot eyes is that, from any angle, it looks like the animatronic is starting at you. The red eyes take away from the empty dead stare that the ghost eyes while adding anger, which is ok from the angle of the spirits, but it's removes some of the lifeless feel that these animatronics give

Angry, fierce eyes can work, but the film's eyes just fall short of that either, too expressive to be creepy because they're lifeless and too tame to be creepy because of the palpatable rage

From a creative standpoint I agree, from a technical one I completely disagree, my assumption is the red eyes where picked for one rating, and two practicality, the effects of the movie are most likely nearly all practical and hence why the white pupil is impossible, this is the next best and more true to life way to make the animatronics look possessed. Ps: really well produced video just my 2¢

I agree with you on all these points especially with how FNAF drew people, like myself, with some of the horror aspects and uncanny feel. I keep reading comments about the red eye’s indicating that the animatronics are “evil”, but how would black eye with a single white pupil in the middle staring ominously at you not do the same thing. Though I guess it would make sense if the movie kept the white eyes solely for Gold Freddy, that would be cool too. I personally just feel like the animatronics with red eyes are going to seem like the cliche, typical “oooh spooky red eyes!” thing. I mean, I’m still gonna see the movie and respect it because I love FNAF but this was just my own opinion about the eyes. Especially since this is a small trailer and a poster. (Awesome video btw! I was a kid when FNAF came out. The reason why I loved this franchise was because the animatronics were supposed to be friendly. Would instantly put you into panic mode and make you ask yourself, "what's going on here, this isn't normal". Until you look at the camera in parts and service room when bonnie is in there and see his hollow lifeless eyes staring into the camera and confirms your suspicion.

I would imagine it was a choice made by Scott himself. It would most likely be for a reason, and this probably takes place in a different universe, (because of the whole multiverse thing), so it could be for a reason that is unique to the movie's respective universe that doesn't necessarily exist in the games' universe. (Just like how William's "death" in the Silver Eyes is different from that of the games). This is spot on. You've put into words the thoughts that were nagging the back of my mind - this movie's tone is completely detached from FNaF 1, going by the animatronic designs, which are extremely important... I really, really want this movie to be good but I am afraid that we will be facing a worst-case-scenario where the art style draws from Security Breach rather than FNaF 1. That eerie, unsettling subtlety from the first FNaF game has never been recaptured, and while it was a very gradual progression away from horror, the franchise's tone and style is almost unrecognizable now - and this movie doesn't seem to be breaking that trend. Part of me hopes that this might be how I get back into current FNaF, but these red eyes are signalling danger - a different kind of danger, which I call disappointment. Lets watch the FNaF movie with an open mind and no expectations folks.

In my belief being part of the fnaf community since 2014, the eyes being read is a small detail with a big significance to the whole lore. I have read tweets, arguments and tiktoks about the animatronics being red eyed for the purple guy or the white eyes being possessed by the souls. Clearly if you played the games, the dots in the animatronics are part of the design. It's inside the endoskeleton's eyes and seeing the freddy jumpscare in fnaf 1, if you look through the frames, it is the shadow that covers the eye and makes the white dots glow. Foxy is another prime example as you see his jumpscare and in the cameras where his eyes always glow. Red eyes may be part of the lore however it takes place when afton wasn't incontrol of this pizzeria. I believe it was henry., however the eyes are not just eerie, it is canonically part of the design of these animatronics from the first game, and seeing as this is a teaser, maybe some changes could be made before the release of this movie.

I think the red eyes were deliberate. Scott Cawthon has so much love for the series that he made, and he is the one who wrote the script. We've only seen 2-3 shots where the red eyes are in. There could be more that look better, or that's the only place they appear in. Seeing this trailer made me so sad. As someone who grew up with fnaf just like many of us, my expectations are high. And although fnaf wasn't my first introduction to things such as uncanny valley and the feeling of being in enclosed spaces, as my first introduction was P.T. But even though the original fnaf didn't scare me as badly as P.T. i garnered so much respect for it in its use of animatronic designing. Infact, fnaf played into my exceeding love for horror because there was just something about it, while P.T. left me thirsting fnaf constantly came out with bangers that scared me one after another. Scott Cawthon's vision was vague and thats what made the game SO good. But, that doesn't translate well to a movie form, as alot of content in fnaf is supposed to be free to interpret. Movies can't really DO that, especially with the higher concern of ratings and also being able to affectively display a message or theme to an audience, meanwhile games DON'T have to do that to be successful. I REALLY hope they can edit the puppets before the release of this movie, I also hope they scrap the layout of the teaser where there is more than one animatronic actively pursuing the protagonist. There's less tensity when you're having to focus on two entities in a theatrical form, rather than a game form. I think this movie could've been started on the right track if it was made before the conceptualization of security breach so it'd have WAY more room to stretch its legs and genuinely get into the content the REAL fans wanna see.

the difficult thing about a solution is that the glow in the eyes isn't cgi so they can't just remove it, and they already tore down the set so they cant do reshoots, but i was reading the silver eyes and in the book all their eyes glow. but it isn't like in the movie how they're just glowing, it's like a beacon to light up the dark and search for the characters they are chasing. sop maybe they could use cgi to make the glow even stronger and kinda light up more like a beacon, but idk since its all practical its just hard to alter.

Bro I’m with you. The eyes look bad. Horrible. Fnaf is something I love. If i go watch the movie with those high animatronics that aren’t scary it would completely transition the way I feel about Fnaf. I speak for a lot of people when i say that. And hey don’t let anyone bash on you. Everyone is entitled to there own opinion and we should be able to freely express ourselves. Ending statement: The red eyes NEED to be changed for the full release of the movie or at least just use those eyes for a very very very brief part of the movie

Thanks for the support! I definitely feel as though a casual audience aren't going to take them very seriously the way they look now. Even someone who's not familiar with FNAF could point out the original look alongside the new one and say "That's creepier".

Ok lets think now. Why would the animatronics, that are possessed by CHILDREN, try to kill a CHILD? Something is not right there, they might be under someone's control or something else idk
@1roxyfan491 Жыл бұрын
I think it's probably just for the trailer and the promo material and might be brief or not in the movie at all.

THEY DONT LOOK BAD, STOP COMPLAINING CHILD!
@1roxyfan491 Жыл бұрын
@@ChuckyBoi88 that may be, but it could definitely take away the horror from the movie when it drops. It is just a trailer so things are subjective to change. He's not really a complaining more as we're just concerned that's all. We just want a good horror movie.

I'm not hopeful, but I'll go watch anyways. If Scott helicoptered over the movie maybe the surround sound can amplify scott's sound design and terrify us that way

I like the idea of the animatronics not necessarily made to walk around on stage during the show, so any movement they do have is pretty slow and clunky so they look inhuman and driven by supernatural means as they clamber down the halls. Would be cool

Another thing that can be used against the red eyes is the fact that making the eyes red is like sending the message that the animatronics are evil. The animatronics, you know, the ones that have the spirits of children who were murdered. One of the things I like the most about the franchise is the fact that you start playing and view the animatronics as weird, demonic robots, but then it's revealed that they are actually victims, innocent children that were killed by the real monster that is William Afton, and all they want to be is free. And then they put the red eyes and it just fuCkING RUINS IT FOR ME-

(My opinion before even finishing the video): Red eyes just feel like a robotic attic mode, normal white eyes makes it a little creepy because it’s just friendly animatronics that look like they have bad intentions which is just freaky, the little white dots definitely give it they freaky possessed look which is definitely more akin to the lore.

(before reading , pls know that english aint my natal language and i might've messed up some words) Listen up a little bit : i understand your opinion and kinda agree with both you and the comments. But you forgot one thing : Scott is known to have made some "little trolling" . Exemples like : when he anounced fnaf 2 coming in 2015 , and realising way sooner, when he anounced that the whole fnaf 3 was leaked. Or that hidden "countdown" from the fnaf 3 teasers that he kinda gave up , for some reason. Or the trailer for fnaf world , what took fans by surprise. Or the trailer for fnaf 6 that presented something like a 2D version of fnaf world ... and we know how that one played out... . The thing is that ... Scott always does things on purpose, to either expand the lore , or just to surprise the fans. I think its the same strategy here. He did it on purpose. He knows that fans will be upset about this minor detail, just to change it or modify it in the theatrical release . BUT HEY , THAT'S JUST A THEORY! A GAME ...now film... THEORY!

as someone who grew up with the game since the beginning it just isn’t the same without those lifeless eyes
