@@mcnelisfilms the only thing at ALL that makes this game lose it's luster is the limited playbook. if someone was able to hack it, add formations and plays... holy cow, it would be a blast. especially pre patch... cause the patch pulled the QB camera back quite a bit. it was fun as hell to have that chaotic close up view where you had to read the safeties within a second or two and scan the field and throw. is it hard? yes.. that's the point.
@mcnelisfilms6 ай бұрын
@@TheSteveKinney I have the same thoughts all the time lol. I always imagine what it could be if we just got a playbook update and lets be honest, some nicer sideline catching animations. Im always mixed on post patch and pre patch. post patch is definitely overall the better experience with the camera slightly pulled back, more formations, more plays, replay camera options. You have the ability to look back shoulder as a QB, stumble recovery while running the ball. But the gameplay in pre-patch has some really nice elements like actually being able to block a punt or FG. the deep ball is thrown better pre patch. there is a much larger disparity in player ratings in pre patch also which makes for exciting gameplay. it sucks that post patch added some nice features but you lose some fun things about the game too. Backbreaker Football, had something unique that EA and 2k football never had: Physic-based tackling and hits that are not always the same outcome that plays out. So if you're shooting for that in your game, you either go whole hail marry or not at all and do something like backbreaker where the hits and tackles can be different. OfCourse why not stop there? Physics should also impact the sidelines where getting a player getting tackled out of bounds full force would result in a Collison course with sideline equipment, benches, Gatorade buckets, teammates, cheerleaders, and field personnel. So far, the only game doing something like backbreaker right now is Football simulator by refactor games.
@Rome_776 ай бұрын
This “physics-based” tackling looks horrible. A more developed and more complex system of realistic “motion capture” animations is the only way to go. Madden’s gameplay got sidetracked and went downhill trying to give fans “muh physics based” rag doll gameplay.

I was OBSESSED with physics games when I was a kid and the Euphoria engine was the best I'd ever seen. I spent at least 250 hours on the Endorphin physics animation tool Natural Motion (the people who make the Euphoria engine) made. I followed the development of every single game that planned on using the Euphoria engine, Force Unleashed 1 & 2 were the best because they combined it with the DMM system for prop material physics, I followed GTA 4 like crazy, that unreleased Indiana Jones game that used Euphoria looked awesome, RDR1 and Backbreaker. To-date the ONLY game to get me even slightly interested in sports, all because I love the tackle physics, I still play it sometimes.
