That's the thing, the Gerudo knowing about the Lens of Truth begs so many questions... Glad you liked the theory!

The Desert Poe theory is a good one. I'd like to add a suggestion, as the Sheikah don't rely on items like the lens of truth, the lens was obviously meant for a non-Sheikah. The len's creator would obviously have teamed up with the Gerudo in order to obtain the necessary items to make the lens. Items which would only be found in the Gerudo Desert.
@Retroatron2 жыл бұрын
That's a great thought! Although, there is something that hints at the Sheikah having relied on the Lens of Truth. When Link enters the shadow temple, he's told "The Shadow will yield only to one with the eye of truth, handed down in Kakariko Village". Thoughts on that? I have a theory I'm working on related to that dialogue, but want to wait until the next theory to share it!

@@Retroatron The old man does say the man who lived where the well is had "A DIFFERENT" way of doing things meaning that there is another way of seeing the truth. It fits with the idea that the lens of truth is a way of cheating instead of the hard work that the Sheika normally put in via their clan's symbol implying that Sheika in general have a kind of mind's eye.

There's nothing to say other Poes cannot speak. They just don't speak to Link. The Poe Sisters for example work together to block your path. This shows some means to communicate and understand. Sharp and Flat are spirits with unfinished business, the Poe in the desert seems to be the same, some sort of guide. But Dampe who should be a poe, and is a spirit with unfinished business, (passing on his treasure) Can still speak. Also, the spirits of the dead speak throughout the Well and the Shadow Temple.

I like these theory. I’m interested to see where it goes. However I have a few challenges to it. 1. I think the desert colossus is older than the man who once lived in the house where the well is now. An entire temple was built out in the desert and even used as a hideout by Twinrova. I suppose it’s possible that the man who used to live near the well is hundreds of years old, but with Twinrova claiming to be more than 500 years old, I’m not sure if the man who made the lens of truth would have lived that long ago. Thus putting the spirit temple (and therefore the colossus location) before the man’s time. 2. The Poe guide itself. We don’t know if the Poe guide is male or female. Also, say the Poe did find the way to the temple via it’s “mind’s eye” (or maybe dumb luck). Perhaps the Poe cannot guide Link back because it only knows what it did in life. Perhaps in life, this person found the desert colossus, but did not make it back (dying along the way). If the Poe really was the man who “trained his mind’s eye” I would think he could find his way back. I like the theory and I love new ideas like this so I’m excited to hear more!! :) Things like this get me thinking too. So those were just my thoughts.

You know you have made a great game when people theorize about smallest details 20 years later. I like your theory. The Desert Poe might have been something more fleshed out in the creators minds but they just used an already existing entity, a poe, due to time constraints or the Cartridge limitations.

This felt out there but plausible. There isn't any established connection between the garudo and the lens of truth. But it never stats the poe was garudo. But the temple is connected to the sages and the Sheikah are, at least, Hylia's most devote and Zelda is the blood decent of Hylia. Maybe the Eye of Truth was meant to aid the next sage of the spirit temple or a hero to get to the temple when needed. An entertaining theory that's got my own brain going. Glad I subscribed, looking forward to more

What also makes sense is only the Shadow and Spirit temples contain invisible things like chests and entryways. They most likely learned from the man how to turn things invisible. The only thing outside of the Shadow/BOTW/Spirit/GTG that has invisible things is the Light trial in Ganon's Castle, not sure why though.

I kinda wish they gave that poe a custom sprite like Sharp & Flat. You have to interact with it to get a couple important quest items. And it has more dialogue than a normal defeated poe, that you'd sell to the guy behind the gate, in ruined hyrule castle. Wouldn't take much, reskin Flat to purple or something. Give him something other than the conductor's baton, maybe his lamp fires a beamos attack if you try and shoot him with arrows.

2:50 the gerudo knew about it because of the dark interlopers, a tribe made up of mainly former Sheikah including bongo bongo himself. In fact that's probably why he was sentenced to death, he betrayed the Sheikah and created the len's of truth to help the gerudo get by in the desert. Or he stole it either way the Sheikah were not happy . I'll continue watching your video though

3:05 the man never really mentioned bongo himself, or the len's, for all we know he was referring to the len's of truth when he said "a man who had an eye" maybe he meant the len's because of its shape . also this takes place around the time the Sheikah are basically down to like a handful of members. Sure ok maybe at the time before the great war things were a lot more strict but now that the Sheikah have been nearly put to extinction there's really nobody around that would punish anyone for speaking of the man who could see the truth . it's not like impa is gonna waltz on down to kakariko village and punish a old man for speaking about a traitorous Sheikah. "I'll be back princess Zelda, I have to beat up an old man for talking about bongo"

"The only somewhat friendly poes we ever come across, in all of Zelda, are Sharp, and Flat", well, and the champions and King Rhoam in Breath, as well as Poe Zelda in whatever game Poe Zelda is in (I haven't played it, but see references to it), Poe Dampé from Ocarina, the toilet hand poe from a couple games, poe Link from Twilight Princess, and probably a bunch more I'm not thinking of, or don't know, but... Interesting question! I don't believe so. Those tortured in the Shadow Temple (and the Well) seem to reappear as grotesque monsters such as Dead Hands, Infinite Hands, Gibdos, and Redeads. I believe Poes are simply the spirits of any random Hyruleans who harbored regrets into death.

Alright I watched the whole thing now and I'm still not convinced, it's a possibility but I don't believe it . why would the Poe guide keep the len's of truth in the bottom of the well, if it was meant to be given to the gerudo and how come the gerudo don't have one ? Unless the Sheikah destroyed them but the gerudo would have at least kept a few . one could say that he only made one but like I said why kakariko village ? If the Sheikah took it from him they'd seal it somewhere. In the shadow temple or they'd destroy it , they couldn't have a object that could help their enemies . Also why would he be running from ganondorf if he made the len's for ganondorfs tribe ? As for the lantern being gone you got me there but there's no mention of the man seeing the truth being able to turn invisible
