In legends the story of Zayne Carrick inspired Obi-Wan during his exile. Obi-wan learned that you can be a jedi even without a jedi order. And thanks to that he helped the Calwell family.

This story seems very similar to Jacen Solo's visions of the future which in part led him to the dark side. The Jedi Masters here in trying to stop their vision from taking place were also close to going over to the dark side.

It is quite reminiscent of Jacen's fall, with his visions of "the dark man" militarizing dark side Force users eventually coming to pass decades later (Darth Krayt). As an aside, Jacen should've known better at that point in the timeline, if we're being honest. He spent the entirety of the Vong war questioning the Force, the Jedi philosophy, vision manipulation, etc. and ended up choosing the right path by the time of "The Unifying Force".

In there attempts to prevent this visions, the master's became the architects of there own destruction. It's terrifying what fear can force a man to do and lead to something even worse.

By that time the Jedi do not take their vision of the dark side seriously. That their actions of preventing their vision come true only endangered others, leading to death in their wake. Disney trilogy had Luke controversially do the same thing, which caused his nephew to turn to the dark side, with some dead and some joining him with the Knights Of Ren. In the EU Luke had it right to be cautious instead of killing those that would turn, he help them resist the dark side and have them get better paths without endangering the lives of people caught in the crossfire.

This would be a good plot for introducing the Knights of the Old Republic into the Star Wars Cinematic Universe. It has all the same components, except for the Mandalorian conflict and it's significance in Jedi history, and plot that is quite clever, while also teaching an important lesson about trust in the force and hastiness.

This was like all the Ancient Greek mythologies - people trying to avert the prophecy, only to actually fulfill it with their attempts of changing their fates. Speaking of which, have you noticed something similar about these stories? They always speak of the prophecies, but never of a catalyst or an event that will make it happen. Almost as if the prophets wanted people to make them happen.

For this particular story, it is unclear the "source" of the visions/prophecy - are they true visions from the force of what is to come, or are they influenced in some way by darker forces? I wouldn't be surprised if The (Old Republic) Emperor was involved in the background!

@@Swtorista I would say this is more of a case of stupid misinterpretation of the information presented to those so-called Masters and a show of how the Jedi Council has been slowly dragged down the slippery slope of distrust as years of power have inadvertently corrupted them that they start to see enemies in every shadow. I forgot what source I've read from (Comics? Games? Definitely not Star Wars related) a character mentioned that it is important for a seer to understand the vision presented because one stupid mistake can cause a catastrophe to those around them and in this case, we have five idiots running amok. Yeah, that's five times the problem to deal with.

the jedi covenant is the result of the devastating great sith wars. Exar-Kun, Ulic-Qel-Droma and many other former jedi turned against the order and the republic and to prevent a repeat of the jedi covernant was created to remain watchful against any dark side resurgence. But consumed by fear they became darkness.

The Jedi Masters intentions were good and from what I can tell they started out as genuinely decent and honourable people. That said, their execution was anything but. They went way too far in trying to prevent the prophecy from coming to pass and if they truly had been good then they would’ve said “No, no matter what the future may hold we will *not* kill innocent children because of what *might* happen.”

No offense but I found it boring but quite interesting since it didn't revolve around the Kotor game and tied in with other legends characters.
