Hello Andy, the answer to the title of this video is YES, also the netherland guy was steady at 700, then he move up towards 900 on a similar engine. St Albans located if you are up for a chat.

Yeah it should be good for it, we hit some restrictions on the dyno last time (with standard pistons) which I think were a combination of inlet and exhaust manifold, as well as cams, all of which are being replaced for next time 👌🏻

Good work sir. That stud too high is frustrating, I felt your pain. We've all done that sort of thing though! At least its rectified. Onwards & upwards. :-)

Thanks! Yeah I was so angry with myself when it went crack, and then even more angry when I saw the stud and remembered 🤦🏻‍♂️ done now though!

How do you set these tensioners? I can't seem to set them correctly. Thanks

Tricky to answer with text but you must use a 6mm allen key, rotated clockwise until the front prong sits between the 2 rear prongs (if that makes any sense!) and then snug up the bolt to hold it in place. Good idea to rotate the engine a few times by hand to make sure the tension stays in place.

The red-blocks make so much sense when it comes to simplicity, don't they? =D

Hi! I'm about installing a fresh b4194t in my V40 T4 and thinking to "upgrade" to a M66 from a S60 d5.. figured out two distinct final drive ratios, 3,77:1 and 4,0:1.. any way how to properly identify this from based on labels? Many thanks!

Volvo provided information on models, gearbox info (ratios and FD etc) which you can find from a bit of searching - usually found on the Volvo owners club. I had a quick search and all m66 from S60 (2014 at least!) Had 3.77 FD.

Hey, thanks for your reply, ended up ordering a 666R7002BB from a backyard where the seller is still saying it's a 5 speed gearbox.. I'm expecting this ratios from a V70 II D5 : M66D (D-5) FDR = 4.00:1 1st = 3.39:1 2nd = 1.91:1 3rd = 1.19:1 4th = 0.84:1 5th = 0.65:1 6th = 0.54:1 --> 120km/h 2150rpm (2750rpm stock) Will figure out in few days haha..

What valve springs do you use? Can i use them on stock Cams?
@AndyPonting
@AndyPonting 7 ай бұрын
They're CatCams Valve spring kit PAC-VOL-B4204-2. You can get them from DLI Teknik. You could use them on stock cams although I don't think there would be much point because the stock cams don't like higher rpm anyway

It's a diverter for the coolant to flow around the head rather than taking the path of least resistance and short cutting to the outlet

Your sump is not clean enogh in my opinion.
@AndyPonting
@AndyPonting 8 ай бұрын
Yeah fair enough I probably could have made a better effort of making it look new. Also, it was made a lot cleaner than you see because although I tried to protect it, a fair bit of aluminium dust went in there so it got washed out quite a few times with petrol, brake cleaner and compressed air. I'm quite happy with it's cleanliness and don't believe there will be any issues from it. I've fitted forged rods from underneath on axle stands before and refitted sumps without cleaning at all in the past - there was no issue before it was removed, and there were no issues after.
