My wife hit a deer a while back in her 2010 Volvo C70 with 205,000 miles on it. The insurance company totaled it and I bought it back for 700 so basically a free car. While I was waiting for parts for the repair I decided to get into the motor and refresh a few things and one thing led to another and I've decided to remove the motor and really try to do it right. Learning a lot as I go and your video is hands down the best I've seen. Simple, clear, and straightforward. Thanks for posting this. Oh by the way is there a secret to getting the valve cover off without breaking it without buying those special spreader-type plyers?

Hey George, it is held on with the liquid gasket material. A small pry bar will do the trick, but not to hard or you will inprint the metal surface.

always just throw a tarp on the scene before disassembly. cinder blocks to make a 2x6 platform 4 vert posts to engine ht. a lifted pltaform with A SHED ROOF wall on his side vs hauling all the parts elsewhere? I put my engine strapped to carpet dolly.

I seen you can still buy these engines new from Volvo. Not cheap but still cool to see it being sold!

Yeah. But something like $11k. No thanks. We were able to do this full forged internal build with all new Volvo and performance parts for about half the price.

Q for anyone, are there markings on the cam or cam gears to show TDC, or do I need to lock the cams in place when replacing timing belt on 2.5T

Wao you could put a towel or a piece of wood on the floor to protect the engine is aluminum that looks like a rough floor you are going to scratch the gasket surface not a good way to do an engine repair

Good note to add for sure. We added padded tape before flipping and then added a towel later for more oil absorption

Am about to do a crankshaft replacement on a 2012 c30 t5 and I been looking at a lot of information about those engines plus bolts torque. That’s how I end up looking at your video. Thanks for all the info
