LOVED this video, I live a few mins walk away from it, and it has deteriorated a lot over the past 12 years, (I remember the big front doors still in their frame) and WW2 writing on another that read "Guard House",which was covered with corrugated iron sheet in 1946, and uncovered about 6 years ago, The buildings you stated maybe where the servants lived, where Stables, which had been fire damaged years ago, *more recent than the house fire, caused by Polish soldiers in WW2, they had a very large stables/coach house block, stunning ornate gardens with fountain, and a folly, (now covered by nature), You may be interested to know that Queen Victoria "when she was a little Girl" and just Princess visited this mansion,(that is her in the opening B/W photo!) and had tea and cakes on the terrace,with her mother and the owners, and wandered the insides of the house and grounds, so you can really walk in the footsteps of Royalty, and get a feel of the history in this "beautiful but sadly neglected" once fine mansion and it;s grounds. looks like you missed seeing all of it, as bits not seen in your film, that I know are there.

Cortinaman63 who were the owners? Spectacular photographs of that time, really a dream house!!! ❤️❤️👍🏻 , Do you own that property? How they leave all that so abandoned!! A big pity not to have kept it , but with the world wars that destroyed everything, a bit difficult.

Very nice video. Well done. It really gives a sense of the place. The drone shots give a sense of the layout and of the damage (e.g. no roof anywhere, apparently no floors either). It would help if you stopped repeating yourself about crazy, insane, mental, absolutely crazy, really crazy, just insane, wow mental, insanely crazy, just crazy ... and instead gave more of the informative comments about stuff we cannot see or smell or feel because even the best video is limited by its very nature. E.g. is a room near the front, or the back? Is the hallway back-to-front or side-to-side? What seems to be holding the walls up? The comment of the fire is an example of stuff you may see, but the limitiations of video do not show. Was that in the rear, near the kitchen?

This video was beautifully done, the music, introduction and subject matter. You asked many times what it would've been like to have lived there. It could have been heavenly or it could've been hellish depending on the family living there, I'm sure that like any other household it was a combination of both at times. One thing for sure if mom and dad fought and needed a place to get away from each other they certainly had the room to do it. This one has it all. Thank you for bringing it.

Totally wonderful, it just goes to show nothing lasts forever, all it takes is a storm,a loose time or broken window and nature reclaims what was once took from her, such a shame that's all that's left are basically the bones of the building and given time they too will be reclaimed into the earth, do you know the history of who owned and lived there, I'm sure all of us fans would love to know
@Cortinaman635 жыл бұрын
Closed up in the 1920's when the family left it, used in WW2 when MOD put polish army in to it, they then set fire to it as it was too cold to stay in, then they got billeted in the grounds, (low concrete wall bases for the huts they were put in are what you see in this video among the trees), it has been left empty by wealthy owners ever since, such a shame, it is a stunningly beautifully place, with lots of history, and all it's wonderful interiors are now lost forever, including the central skylight now almost rotted way, save for a few very tiny remains . I live a few mins away from it, hope that helps.

When I was a kid my Dad used to take me to an old watermill in the Ashdown Forest that had been used to mill the flour for Queen Victorias wedding cake. Blimey, you're blowing my stack with this, ok, it's like a posher version in like lesser destruct state of Sutton Scarsdale, AND Bolsover Castle 'accommodation range.', come to mind. Generally, it seems, once the roof, lead, covering protection is messed with then that's it - All wet n rots through an down comes from between those vertical walls > fireplaces\doorways remain standing tall, for a while. Honestly, this is so Sutton Scarsdale but with lesser loss I'd internal construct, it's amazing. There must be hundreds of these places - Not to mention a relation to one grand Hall /Kedleston? OK, few years back, when I got into all this/these grand and but lost houses', found Kedleston Hall (Okeh, a NT preservation and very nice too), however there was a lodge to same, but a coupla miles away. I buried my head and discovered it. Up until the 20's itself a very grand erecting, t I NY compared to this featured standing but, actually very similar to in later ruin. The secondary ruin to main Kedleston is no longer barely recognisable as a grand house, minor to its Kedleston major, (twas for Curzon's son). Subsidence has apparently done for this secondary lodge. It's roofage n lead gone, since the subsidence there is remaining but a a single cornered wall (with much from collapsed walls n floors compacted each upon its below fellow inst gap where once open rooms be fellas one above another. As one approaches this vanished from roadside eye 'a or House', from driving South London the Wirksworth to Derby Road, two small lodge houses of/from on the r. side of the road and take an ambled stroll twixt these two gatehouses and then continue upon the dusty track which leads along a flat field deck and curving around into some bushes/small wood Here one encounters masonry entrance drive walls, two Mason Ed stone by stone styled and curved n converging main drive entrances, as if gated directional, all dressed and suitably impressive to realise that this was your way into this place, it being grand but in shadow to to the master mansion just over and downt hill a way. Just past these grand stone entrances erected the drive walls stood/still stands a wide and impressive to point white painted wood timbered gate with black steel in-betweens, guiding the attendee in and towards. By foot traverse I promise an impression of the past where lies before a gravelled drive round towards the buildings reception. The gravel way is consisting of smoothed River bottomed stones of ancient age and display. We all know gravel today - nice and pretty but these gravels were of easily fistable size, small boulders extant. As I initially tried this prefilled route I soon found to my concern, via my skidding footwork try forward was green slime slathered these massif sized 'pebbles'. These were a constant, these remain a feature of the drive to the house today. You take the time you come across triple staggered fish/ boating ponds, gravelled drives as described by and really so impressively found, but across from the house itself a fully erect and intact stable block, complete in every way, but yards from the placing of this, yer, SO disappointingly, slightly to the North of a suddenly submerged stable bloke. Tried to access it when first noticed back in 06/10 But the depth remained, this one legged visitor with an interest thus as a bar. Still have some 35mm pics from this finding though. The hall f submerged stable block in complete piece stands. The grand house but one tall quarter of same still rises. Honestly, it's all still their, the big library books show tell what it was. Any contents of the house remain on crushed room upon room collapsed compaction. Stable block simply submerged - no apparent vandaled damage. If can source n sort me old pics will try n send em. Keep on.

Cool place. Thanks for sharing. 5:28 - Gettin' attacked by what? 6:41 Plaster off wall of an entryway reveals a crisscross pattern. At first I thought wallpaper. But then noticed some diamond shaped holes like ceramic tiles fallen out. Maybe the plaster covered it because tiles were out. 6:44 a doorbell button hanging there. Must have been quite a project adding electricity to such an old structure. 6:53 Is that a white door with no frame above the crisscross wall? 10:18 Not sure I see part of the old roofing. 11:33 'What is that?' - looks like a bridge with a modern lattice lower right. Or maybe crisscross ceramic tiles? Too bad you didn't get a better look. 12:31 'What the hell is that?!' - I don't know! 13:50 (Greenhouse or Summer House) ' If you know what it is make a comment below' I was thinking "It's Mental or Insane" (LOL): then you said, 'It's Mental'.

It's hard to believe from the looks of it that it was ever lived in. The floors have collapsed and fallen into pieces. The ceilings and roof is all gone and foliage has taken over. Nothing left but Stone and brick walls. Just an empty quiet shell. It's really not even a house anymore. It's basically just lonely ruins.
