This was every bit as great as I could have hoped for! It really is such a contrast not just what Downtown Toronto is like, but even compared to the rest of Scarborough - after all, where else in Toronto do corn and soybeans grow? 👨🌾👩🌾🚜🌽 Thank you for fulfilling my request despite it being very far afield, cheers!

It's great that you were able to think of a place that's both interesting enough to visit and that hasn't already been covered! Not too many places like that left after years of videos.

Your best video by far! You handled the rural part of Toronto like a pro! That part of Toronto is beautiful but also intimidating.

My Family moved from Downtown Toronto to Agincourt and we kids spent a lot of time biking around the Rouge. This brought back a lot of fond memories.

Hey Johnny ,when you cycling that kind of route it could be interesting to drive the niagara parkway by bike💪👍. You walked there a few times.

Great ride, hard to believe you were in Toronto! If you’re ever out that way again, another cool ride is Twyn Rivers Dr. which runs off of Sheppard Ave at the bend. It goes into Rouge National Urban Park via a steep hill and across a couple of narrow bridges over 2 branches of the Rouge River.

That was a delight, Johnny - thank you so much for sharing. I have swum in the Rouge River just outside the park, it's a wonderful area. If you ever have the chance to cycle along the Humber through James Gardens, you would enjoy that too!

Two things: 1. There are actually quite a few active farms within Rouge National Urban Park. The federal government (via Parks Canada) now owns the land, but it leases farmhouses and fields to local farmers and encourages farming within the park, since part of the philosophy of Rouge National Urban Park is that it's preserving a rural lifestyle within Toronto that would otherwise get swallowed up by housing developments. Many of the current tenant farmers have been farming the land for many generations, as they're descendants of the 19th century settler families in the area. 2. The Rouge Park Pie Stand that you went by (on Scarborough-Pickering Townline) is actually pretty unique. The pies and tarts are in those cabinets by the side of the road that you went by, and there's a jar inside where you put the cash for whatever you want. It works on an honour system! The gentleman who runs it says that he's occasionally swindled by someone stealing cash or a pie, but for the most part he finds people are very honest. Whenever I go, I always try to leave more money in the jar than whatever I'm buying just to try to compensate for the jerks who might underpay or steal. Also, everything he makes is delicious and he deserves the tips.

Hi Johnny great Ebike stream with the Beast doing it;s thang again. Wish l could get a replacement bike when needed from my local bike shop but can't see it happening lol. Yeah the one battery will have to do for the time being and l still get a 50 mile range out of it depending on terrain. Best Wishes C.J.H.

Awesome rural adventure. That e-bike has some muscle. The looking back camera setup you had was genius. Glad you made it unscathed by bugs, cars, rain, or a flat tire.

Unreal!! I was just about to go look up a map so I could show someone my friends old farm where he lived in Scarborough. This video started randomly playing and you are standing at the next corner. His driveway was the first one you rode by on the left at the beginning of this video. Life is amazing sometimes. I still can't believe this!!

16:03 Glad to see this intersection wasn't fully clogged when you passed here. Steeles turns into a 2-lane road just east of Markham Rd, it doesn't even have dedicated left turn lanes, so you'll see a queue of cars holding up traffic to turn left. It's become a pretty huge problem at both Ninth Line and Reesor Road as the area just north of there around Hwy 7 has gotten more built up. On a weekend afternoon, it's not uncommon to see the queue stretch from Ninth Line all the way to Markham Rd, it really is that bad. More often than not, you'll also see people gun it on the shoulder to get past people waiting to turn left. Thankfully, the city plans on widening Steeles and adding bike lanes and sidewalks scheduled for 2025. It'll also allow YRT to start running buses down to the area connecting to the new bus terminal at Cornell. It'll be a great all-around win-win for everyone and the transformation will make for a really great walk someday.
