Perfect throwing Colette !!! This challenge looks hard as hell!

+Adam Celadin Oh yeah! It sure was hard. Trying to figure out how to edit the 4 days of footage so it wasn't too repetitive or too long was an even harder task! But I learned a lot from the experience. Thanks for watching, Adam!!

Colette. I have so many thoughts on this video and the challenge itself. I remember speaking to you about it (in private) and holding my own thoughts about it all. I did the challenge fast, incorrectly and held off. My 2 1/2 spin wasn't correct. It was consistently 3 spins. I stopped the video. I listened to your thoughts and I held off. I felt there was more I needed to learn. There were more knives I needed to throw. I needed to learn the distance, the weight and the strength. Watching this video give me such pride. And total admiration at the same time. There's a reason I connected with you from the very beginning. And I don't care how cheesy it sounds or comes across, you were/and still are my inspiration from the very beginning. When I watched the part of the video where you said "I dedicate this to Kimberly Mitchell - 'The difference between the unattainable and the attainable lies in a person's determination' - I totally lost it. Because the truth is, you are my determination. And you are who gathered me up and threw me to the wolves. Not in bad way - but for the good of my soul. I see so much strength in you. So much power. Not just as a knife thrower, but as a female. And that's what I look forward to the most. Because I (personally) needed you in my life. To show me that I can be fearless. No matter what comes my way. So I thank you. Here. There. And everywhere. I can't wait to meet you one day. So I can give you one big giant hug. Thank you for all the inspiration you spread amongst us all. And everything you teach. You are truly an inspiration. XO.

+The Bladed Broad What's this salty discharge in my eyes? Haha, thank you, Kimberly, for the touching comment! It's not an easy challenge... and for me, it would've been more luck than skill if I had completed it. I'm glad you like my response to the challenge since I wanted to answer the challenge for the both of us! Though, I was a little disappointed that I said I'd nail the challenge on Day 2, but never got to by the end. However, I think I fulfilled the challenge's purpose by the last day, because I had so much footage to analyze (under spins, over spins, reverse spins) that I was ready to move on and educate myself on the mistakes I was making--which is way better then completing the challenge by luck. I spent a week editing the last bit of footage and can't wait to share what I've found with everyone! Anyways, I'm glad I helped inspire you in some way! One of my favorite quotes is from a TV showin this clip: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6nZYqyHpqugo9E I tried to repeat that quote to my husband about his broken bones, but he didn't get it. :P We will meet one day and hug it out!! :)
@thebladedbroad96549 жыл бұрын
I can't wait to see the rest of the footage and what you have in store. I agree with you completely on luck vs skill. That's one of the reasons I've been focusing on accuracy - not because I want to be good at a challenge, but I want to train myself how to throw the knife exactly where I mean to aim. I was sitting outside one day just looking at all the target space and thought it would be neat to call it, and hit it. That is a fantastic quote. I am going to note that one down. I keep a journal in my purse (and on my phone) of my favorite quotes and that is going in there! Thanks for sharing that with me. :) Anyways, thank you for this video. Its very inspiring and I am honored to call you my friend!

Second: "Painting a Feather that's floating in the sky"...Whoever said that hit it on the nail! Great description! Finally: Thank you for the mention! what i do to relax when throwing now... throw for 30 minutes... rest for 30 minutes, it gives your mind time to relax from the frustration of missing. so if ya stick 3 in a row, take a break for 15 minutes, then throw again, then take another 15 minute break
@Xolette9 жыл бұрын
+heavylead1961 Haha, I would if I could walk away that easy. Once I get started on a task, I don't stop. That's why I can edit for hours sometimes. :) Plus, I don't want to leave my equipment outside, not to mention trying to conserve my batteries.

+Xolette Sorry i did not introduce myself - from Georgia and I am a new thrower, about two weeks experience. I have watched most all your videos and most others peoples' on throwing and have found them invaluable. I use 6" thick pine log rounds about 14" in diameter from a 70' tree I cut down, and so far have only practiced the one-spin throws with the Cold Steel 'Tru-Flite" blade. At first I was only getting 1 or 2 sticks out of 6 with a "handshake" grip on the Tru-flite handle until a "secret" revealed itself - I relaxed my index finger almost all the way off the handle and suddenly 4 or 5 sticks of 6! My best run is 13 sticks in a row, however accuracy is not there yet at all! I can hit the 14" target most all the time, but am all over it. My distance is 14' and that seems to work best. Yeah, the Dawn seems to make the log face more "self-healing", but it may be my imagination...

You've got grit, girl! But here's a suggestion: Challenge yourself...to learn to throw left-handed, too. It will help balance your muscle symmetry, and will give your right arm a well-deserved rest. Of course, start out slow. Perhaps in a couple of years, you'll be able to issue a challenge to others, too.
@Xolette9 жыл бұрын
+Cetok01 Thanks! When my muscles are sore, I'll throw left-handed, but when I'm not taping, I try to practice left-handed as well.
@Mastermind89088 жыл бұрын
+Xolette Have you thought about using both hands and program them separately; no-spin for the left and 2.5 spin for the right? That way when a hand is holding a knife it will want to throw that way on instinct. One full day on one throw (one hand), then one full day with the other. I get that "ego-less" technique thing when gaming, too. It's a weird zen feeling.

A little OT: What video editor you're using? And how it is on your eyes? I've tried DaVinci Resolve, its light grey on dark grey absolutely illegible. Sticking to EDIUS now. At lest, it has green'ish background.
@Xolette9 жыл бұрын
+Anr Daemon Cyberlink PowerDirector Version 13. I've had several other versions and although intuitive to use, there are bugs that I hate...and sometimes if I've done lots of cuts/effects, the program lags or crashes. Really annoying. It's fine on my eyes though. But, I'd probably try the Adobe program next.
@anrdaemon71159 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the answer. I feel ya, bugs left unfixed for years and even called "features" are the worst. Thankfully EDIUS handles it nicely so far. I can leave editing session open for days and cut and mix to my heart's content :D (Yeah, I'm that easily distracted.) Autosave is a big help, and EDIUS have it staged, so even if it crashes or I accidentally close it, I almost always recover nicely, and in worst case lose a few minutes of work.

@Dark83Noodle9 жыл бұрын
+BrownBessOwner The sound of a miss alone will freak 'em out
@Xolette9 жыл бұрын
+BrownBessOwner If you have enough space, you can make sure your target is at a safe distance from any fences. Mine is about 6 meters from the back fence, which is plenty of space. And also keep it clear around 3 - 4 meters on all sides of the target. If you don't have the space, you can try putting up chicken wire to catch stray knives or try to build an indoor target-- though, that can be damaging to your house and belongings. Good luck!

@Xolette8 жыл бұрын
+Thomas Bigler For throwing repeatedly at the 6 meter mark, YES! I tested many knives before starting this challenge. The Arrows I could easily get to stick from the 5 meter mark compared to my other knives... it could be the light weight plus the heavy handle. The Sharp Blades' White Sharks were not so long that it hurt my arms throwing them, plus the hole is chamfered, so it was easy on my fingertips.

Thanks so much, I'm new to KZbin I only used it to talk to friends overseas it was purely by accident that I found you. The way you put your videos together are so helpful. And I hope you don't mind me saying that I pay more attention to a attractive girl like yourself 😊. I'm using Gill Hibben knive at the moment. The "Revised thrower 2 triple set" and the "generation 2 pro thrower combo" I have more success with the "Revised thrower 2" I find the holes at the rear of the blade quite helpful. Can you suggest any better knives for a beginner. Don't worry I do have deep pockets, ha ha. Thank you again and keep up the good work it is much appreciated.
