The writer of this worked out all of Branaugh’s Agatha Christie Poiroit movies, so aside from a ripe opportunity to try a voice role, it’s a sell incentive for distribution

Arcane + Cyberpunk paved the way for success on netflix animation. Blue eye Samurai about to be the 3rd. Now if only Netflix bought the rights to Beserk and put funding in that anime.

This show is so freaking good. I hope channels like this give it the necessary boost for Netflix to order a Season Two. It DESERVES a larger audience. A few films you'd love (if you haven't seen them): "CHILDREN OF MEN," "GRAVITY," "STRANGER THAN FICTION," "AMELIE" and "PLEASANTVILLE"... all of them feature brilliant story-telling, direction, acting, and effects. You'll never forget any of them, once you've seen them. Happy Holidays!

Marc Dacascos (Chiaki) is so key for the charming heel goomba, and this Taiko combat score is some incredible work! Also, the end of this ep and bulk of the next are for really characterizing the villains

The white guy has a Northern Irish accent. He's voiced by Kenneth Branagh, the dude who played Gilderoy Lockhart in Harry Potter.

18:30 looking back at this wording there is importance to it. spoilers below. 3 2 1 when akemi meets her arranged husband the stories is he is a cruel person but he is timid and have speaking problems. the one that made those sotires and image of him is his mother. the mother chooses the wives and want her son to have a weak/obediant wife mainly so the mother can order her around and just there to make babies. by end of the series akemi takes the lead and showing signs of guiding her husband which the mother isnt too happy about due to the mother will lose control. "a man conquers/fight, but a woman controls/tame" pretty much.

Cool detail I nerded out over: the Yakiire is the quench hardening of steel, which can be done w/ water (“Mizu” in Japanese) or oil but larger blades generally favor oil She quenched Chiaki’s blade in water, and Swordfather let her knowing it would heatwarp to brittle because he suspected Chiaki was a fuqqin heel

its weird how inverting the racism suddenly makes it ok. Like even the main character hates themselves for racist reasons, the only person who hasn't shown any real racism is the sidekick whose name I can't remember.
@jachyra910 ай бұрын
You don't get it. Mizu isn't racist. Mizu hates herself because, like you or I or anyone else, she's been conditioned to conflate what she is with who she is. Who you are is not the sum of what you are, no matter how much what you are influences who you are.
@dapeach0610 ай бұрын
@@jachyra9I mean, she's xenophobic at the very least, which is the foundation of her self-hatred, even if it's fueled by personal issues. It doesn't help that the only 4 white men in her world are huge pieces of shit.
@dapeach0610 ай бұрын
The show is clearly not ok with Japanese xenophobia any more than it is with any other kind of racism. The white men in the show are monsters not because they're white but because they're imperialistic and brutal. Mizu sees herself as a monster because she's mixed race because she's internalized the xenophobia of her culture, you really think the show believes that?
@Fangtorn10 ай бұрын
This is such a dumb comment. How do you watch this show and think Mizu hating herself is meant to be a _good_ thing? Do you tie your own shoe laces or do you have someone to help you?
@victormagoco97529 ай бұрын
I don’t think the show portrays racism as “okay”, since the main victim is Mizu(the protagonist) and the main perpetrators are usually beaten up by Mizu
