At age 76 now, I remember fondly when these singles were released. This performance rekindles those long ago memories.

2004 PBS performance. David Somerville (d. Jul. 2015 at 81), Bruce Belland, lead vocal on original (b. Oct. 1936), last survivor of original line-up, now 86. Original besides Bruce: Ed Cobb, bass (d. Sep. 1999 at 61), Marv Ingram, high tenor (d. Mar. 1999 at 60), Glen Larson, baritone (d. Nov. 14, 2014, at 77). David Somerville was the lead singer and co-founder of The Diamonds, a very popular group in the '50s, "Little Darlin' " ("#2 peak, 1957), and "The Stroll" also in 1957, a #4 peak. Both songs on the marvelous '50s revival film and soundtrack "American Graffiti" (1973) in a 1962 setting, starting Ron Howard, Cindy Williams, Paul LeMat, Candy Clark, Charles Martin Smith, and the irrepressible Richard Dreyfuss.

Thank you for the info on the group! Sad to think so many are gone, but it's life! I heard once that Santa Catalina is a Marijuana paradise now...golly!.....but nothing spoils the enchantment of "26 Miles." And tha piano ruffs......well!!!! AMAZING!!!!!😂😂😂😂

The fellow on the left looks like Jim Yester also of the group "The Association." Does that group know he's cheating on them?

Two of them, ones in the middle, are the only originals still living when this was broadcast. Bruce Belland, second from left, is now the only one living.
