Finally a video that shows that Stoicism isn't self-obsessed. Thank you.

Gratitude is das father of all virtues: 1. Wisdom 2. Courage 3. Justice 4. Moderation. Therefore, when I wake up in de morning I want to say to my self: I am grateful and thankful for this glorious temple that was given to me the day I am reborn; my family, friends and teachers; and another day to breath, to think, to love and to enjoy.

It has been a pleasure to bump into your twitter account and finding this video, and such a coincidence because I've been reading a book about Philosophy's history (from Jaime Luciano Balmes), and he clearly misunderstood the Stoicism; he defined the stoic as an emotionless, impassable and even boring person. This video is so enlightening and enjoyable !! Good vibes

Thank you so much Martin, glad you liked this video! Wow, I have seen it as well! It is so true, I've been reading some white papers in Spanish and they often attribute Stoic to "emotionless" or "lack of empathy". Thanks for the comment :)

As a Christian, its just wildly beautiful how the key Stoic virtues are the same as the key Christian virtues. It's just beautiful how different ways of thought, or different ways of the "truth" being revealed (such as Christ becoming man) all point to the same - it makes me very happy as I am a practicing Catholic and a bug admirer of not only Aurelius but the other Stoics.

It's no surprise that both the stoic and christian virtutes feel similar as they are both developed by the Greek philosophers in large part.

Brilliant video. Beautifully presented. I loved the way you included stories to illustrate the ideas. Very inspiring video , made me more admiring of the Stoics. Id love to see more videos on Stoicism. What about looking at stoicism in relation to modern society where its experienced a revival in recent decades.

I imagine it might be more associated with Chrysippus had all his writings survived. Also I believe the 4 virtues date back to, at least, Socrates. Perhaps the pre-Socratics also had these concepts?

stoicism is suicide without suicide, every vice within stoicism i like , however it seems to try to ultimately boil to a point of nirvana, or god, or the idea of conformity and hence death. i could be very wrong as ive never been able to meet a stoic and debate this. if someone would like to id be very grateful. i think im under the impression that who is a stoic to claim what nature is ? y definition seems to be polarising to theres
