And just a note to add... Franco is just yet another example of how the F2 standings isn't always a representative gauge of who is cut for F1 and who isn't. Mick Schumacar won the F2 title, but he sunk rather than swam in F1. Antonelli & Bearman are known entities, but have been let down by their cars in F2. Franco isn't setting the world alight in F2, but he is currently in F1 and he is thriving!

The surprise of the season is Mclaren being able to win this year, or how RedBull dropped the map. But driver wise, Colapinto really made a good impression.
@GuilleSanchez.answersАй бұрын
At the year's beginning, we had a predictable, boring F1 season that soon started to come alive with different winners and races that were more and more interesting to watch. Piastri added the first defying condiments to races and after the summer break, the addition to the lineup of Franco Colapinto brushed the competition for points at the end of the race with life. The way he drove in Singapur flawlessly so close to the wall for so many laps giving RedBull the chance to get ahead of him with a well-executed pit strategy was something the sport could not have ever predicted nor dreamed about at the beginning of the year. We'll see when Colapinto gets the suspension upgrades that Albon got where can he get. Piastri, Colapinto, Bearman, and probably Antonelli are giving F1 enthusiasts the assurance that once Fernando leaves or, in some years, Lewis, there will be young talented drivers to challenge Verstappen's talents, besides Lando. Colapinto belongs in F1 to keep the viewers spoiled with talented driving shows in the midfield race after race. Senna at Toleman was doing the same before getting into the better cars. So whatever he gets to drive next year will be good news for Formula 1 in general.

@racing1000Ай бұрын
@@jessy8a10 Perez was right, but that doesn’t make his shocking performances in comparison to Verstappen much better. Ocon, Bottas, even Gasly, Albon or Tsunoda, fair enough, but there is no way Perez is better than Hulkenberg! I think Nico has done an outstanding job to dominate Magnussen, who destroyed Mick Schumacher in 2022. Hulkenberg almost always maximises the car, while Perez has only had a couple of decent performances all season (Jeddah and Baku).

I would love to see him in a car next year. However, i can see him racing at Aston in 2026 if Stroll decides to shuffle off to WEC or Alonso finally gives up

I've said this many times now. We should not be applauding mediocrity or when someone meets expectations. I'm an American and I think dropping Logan was the right call; he wasn't performing so I agree with risking it on a different driver and it has indeed paid off for Williams. However, a major point here. Logan's crashes for a majority were actually the car failing on him (sometimes taking him out of points contention, like the Dutch GP in 2023) or someone hitting him, like Miami this year. You can't blame him for those and yet everyone is. Now, Logan took three races to have a rookie crash in 2023 and the only real damage he had was a busted front wing. Franco crashed not even two races into his career, and not only did he crash sooner than Logan, it was significantly worse. If we're going to be fair, we must be very critical of Franco here due to his faster, more financially damaging first crash but no one is. No one wants to discuss this for some reason. I do find it funny folks think Franco is just great. You can go and find people comparing him to Max, Lewis, and Senna himself. Franco has done absolutely nothing worth high praise, let alone done anything to be compared to all-time greats. In Baku he had the fifth fastest car. Guess where he finished the race? P10 and got lucky (yes, like Logan did at COTA). P10 is exactly where he should be, behind Alex but in the points. He only met expectations there. In Singapore he had the sixth fastest car and so where did he finish? P11. Right where I expect someone in the sixth fastest car to be. Even more, Logan made up more places in Singapore in a slower car last year, 4 places compared to one for Franco, and yet people are acting like Franco's race was amazing and I cannot find any real praise for Logan doing well in that crappy of a car. I get it, people are excited for Franco to be racing and I think he might has a shot at the Audi seat now, but let's calm down and be objective. He's only met expectations and has crashed worse than Sargeant did in his first crash. The only real praise he deserves is that he has mostly kept it clean (but I will reiterate to make the point, he caused more damage to the car than Logan did in his first rookie crash).

I actually think its going to be a fight between Lawson and Colapinto for the 2025 RB seat. For Lawson to get it, he probably has too score a few points or at least match Yuki. Colapinto meanwhile just has to keep this same form up or even improve (which would be a bonus I believe) to be in serious consideration.
@RedlingsteinАй бұрын
Nope. Liam will be in the RBR or VCARB, as Horner already stated. And Hadjar will be in the VCARB if Liam beats Checo in their expectations…listen to Horner on F1 podcast, he explained that all. Hadjar is beating Colapinto big time in F2, so Horner knows Hadjar is fast, racy and knows how to overtake 💪
